where to stay in melbourne please

    Hi all

There are 4 of us coming from Perth for the Saints and swans game on 28may at TD.

I need to know some hotels to stay at close to Td or between MCG and TD.

    Can anyone help.

    Thanks

Depends what you want (& want to pay !)

Sebel is really nice, can get apartments that sleep 4 and is walking distance to TD, not cheap but good

Holiday inn on spencer st is also pretty close and reasonable value/quality

Try Expedia or Lastminute.com. The Lindrum looks okay but is rarely discounted.

If you're planning on doing some other stuff around Melbourne as well as going to the footy and want to be in the centre of the city, the Mercure has a couple of places on Swanston that are reasonable.

If you're willing to wait a while, try www.wotif.com for a full hotel listing, or www.accor.com.au for some deals at Mercure/Sofitel/Ibis.

        I'm on the Chandwagon!!!

The Enterprise is not expensive, close to Spencer St Station & Colonial. It's on wotif. But don't do what I did - left my window open and bloody trams woke me up at 5.30am.

If anyone is in the Accor Advantage Plus Club you can pick up a nice room at the Novatel On Collins or even The Grand Hotel in Spencer St. for about $160.

We have a group of 4 booked as well coming down from SYdney for the Swans / Saints game.

We are staying at the Medina Grand apartments, right in the centre of Melbourne and you get 50% off the room rate if you are a swans member so it was a really good deal.

My wife and I have also stayed at the Atlantis on the corner of Spencer and some street (the one that goes straight across the road/ tram bridge to Telstra Dome). 5 minutes walk. It was about $150 a night, good, clean and fairly new too.

              Have fun!

Punt Hill Apartments on Little Flinders Street is my accommodation of choice when staying in Melbourne. Nice, clean, modern self contained apartments. Tell them you work for the Government and they'll give you the Government rate, which is a reasonable discount (if you dont just lie and say you work for some Federal Govt department or agency - they never ask to see proof).
