Cresswell is retiring at seasons end and surely Seymour is no value either with his injuries and habit of giving the opposition 2 goals a game thru silly frees !

Nicks neededs to go back and perform like the late 90's

Matthews could be useful trade bait

Schauble is on shaky ground

Give more young kids a game

If we can't win at least 1 out of our next 2 we must really cop our medicine and give the kids a go and fast track their development

Never said drop Matthews, but i beleive he could be tradebait.

Schauble to me looks as though he has lost even more pace - maybe he is carrying an injury or needed a game or two in the magoo's. Lets face it C Bolton and Barry are streets ahead of him.

I like him as a player but he's shown bugger all in the last 2 games.

Anyway, due to the proliferation of these sentiments across the messageboard, you should all know that I consider it to be scapegoating in the extreme.

Barry Hall was one of our worst on the weekend. Why no suggestions that he be dropped? If Frosty was that pathetic, there'd be even more threads saying he should go; if that is possible.

Charlie you have to ask yourself will McPherson and Warfe be around in a few years time when we are pushing for a flag??? Most likely not. Now I understand your point but dropping them doesn't automatical mean bringing in rookies. We still have the likes of Fixter and Seymour to come back (I would rather Seymour to Warfe) Now these 2 should come stright in but for who??? The answer for me is McPherson and Warfe.

Give LRT and Powell a game when they are ready. And let them play for a period longer than a quarter.

Just give 'em the chance that they were told would come this year. If they don't shape up, they ship out. But I'm sick to death of seeing "will they win a premiership for us? Most likely not." Because they are on the list to prove their worth... TO PROVE THEY CAN WIN A PREMIERSHIP!!!! They can't do this if you're not willing to give them that one last chance.

And don't tell me they've had enough chances. If Roos thought they'd had enough - remembering that Paul Roos is the man who we have put our faith in to lead this team to a flag - then he would have cut them last year. He said that part of his plan was to assess these players this year. 2 predictable losses, and suddenly you all want to change the script!

If in 8 weeks, they are still playing the way they are now, THEN I would be saying it's time.... NOT NOW! How dare the club say that they have a chance, then SCAPEGOAT them out of a career, as so many people here suggest!

Jeez... if this is how you are handling the rebuilding period 3 weeks in.... God help this club, because there's two years to go and it ain't gonna get easier over night! Have you all forgotten the rhetoric from last year? "We have to go backwards before we go forwards."

That's what this scapegoating is about. You know it.... a bad game, it doesn't feel nice. So you want to skip stage 1 and go straight to stage 2. Do you think the rebuilding will be any better if it's quicker? P'haps... until the realisation sets in that one or two more experienced hands might have been enough when we lose that prelim by 2 goals, after leading it in the last term....

Stick by this club.... many won't. But if you're all gonna get itchy feet after 2 MATCHES.... what's the point? You all complain about the club going for the quick fix for the premiership during Eade's time.... but aren't willing to go through the motions. We on this website are supposed to be the hard core... we aren't the chardonnay sippers.

Got rid of the players who were not going to get us to the next level and gave the young kids a go.

That was circa 1993

the clock has moved forward 10 years.

We went from a spoon to a Grand Final in 2 years
We arent going to get back to the finals by playing
"serviceable " players like Frosty & Warfe.

Dear God flash backs - never type those names again I nearly choked (I was a closet Wheeler fan).

One thing though, we got Roos and Lockett in those years give or take to go with the youth plus Kelly, Cressa and co clocked up there hundred games as well these were all major factors not just youth.

McPherson is not soft. He is slow.
Warfe always used to be a reliable mark and ran the ball well out of defence but inevitably kicked it straight to the opposition and it usually found his unmarked opponent. The only thing thathas changed recently is that since his shoulder got popped he even lacks his marking strengths.

As for Mattews, he is one of the harder boys in the side and does a lot of the in close work and that cannot be underestimated,(consider Licuria). Schauble makes a contribution every week and last week he made a goal by running of his opponent so slow he may be but he is a solid defender who does the hard things well.

Fixter really is a loss and his return must be anticipated keenly by the coaching staff with his pace and ability to kick well to position and under pressure, unfortunately the same cannot be said for Seymour.

If you want the club to give obvious dud passangers another four to six weeks to prove themselves (after they have both had at least 3 years ! ), well that really cuts into the time we have to really go through the younger players. Taking into account experienced players inconsistancey, and the number we have to get through and try to asses this year, we have just about run out of time for obvious dudes like warf frosty.
PS your not related to either of these two are you Charlie ? you seem to be a little sentimental about them.

This is a silly statement. How many games do the younger guys need? The footy world was pretty impressed with Geelong giving their youngsters about 12 games each. They have plenty of time.

Frankly ? I think Frosty and Warf had have their time, and a couple of others are fast aproaching theirs as well.
But knowing the gutlessness of the swans in the last five years or so, I still doubt that they will be cut.
And then at the end of the year people can return to this site and argue that they should be given one more year. .... please mr collese please mr roos, give them one more year how would you like your carreer to be cut short like that ? please mr roos ... please mr colles.......
