    ScottH pretty true comment actually.

Roosy has commented on Willo's injury - surgery this week (up to 6 weeks)

"In further bad news, big man Darren Jolly need his ankle iced, casting doubt over fitness."

And just to think that a month ago we were worried about how all three would fit into one team.

We finally get some big men, and now Ball and Doyle are gone, and Jolly is in doubt, who will ruck next week??

I'd agree with bringing in Campbell or Vogels.

As far as I know our smaller rookie's aren't ready.

I think Guy Campbell did some ruckwork with Bendigo last year. Or we could have LRT contesting the centre bounces with Goodes contesting all other ruck contests.

The casualty list from Sunday's match included two-time club champion Paul Williams (broken collarbone), and big men Jason Ball (hamstring) and Darren Jolly (ankle).

Williams is out for six weeks, Ball is sure to miss at least next weekend's home match against Melbourne while Jolly is in doubt after playing on despite injuring his ankle in the opening term.

The Swans' other main option Stephen Doyle is not expected to return from injury next week and rookie Earl Shaw could be considered against the Demons.

Apart from that already reported Fixter got injured AGAIN in the twos and Heath James was hurt AGAIN (I think ankle) at training.
Doyle said he hoped to be back in two or three but didn't sem too confident.

Nah, unlikely because of lack of match fitness that showed in the pre season matches he played. Maybe if we were at Round 17 however.....

Of course it doesn't help when you sit right next to the players' interachange (thank God I didn't have my camera out at that moment - though do have shots of Willo with his arm taped up (hidden away under his shirt) - he wasn't a happy spectator in the 2nd half (you could see he wanted to be out there)) *sigh*

I'm sure he would have loved to. Just as the St Kilda final raised huge concerns about our midfield's ability to replace him, today re-confirmed this. Without Williams (especially on a short ground) we are like a bot without a paddle.

I not only think that Paul Williams is our team's most important player (AHEAD of the inconsistant Goodes O'Laughlin ad Hall). He is the only guy who seems to have the confidence to use the ball effectively. And to run to goal and have a ping himself.

I guess with him out we are forced into looking at the future now. Do we use McVeigh? Schneider? Davis? Craig Bolton in the midfield perhaps?

Willo has 1-2 seasons left in him at best. And has been known to be somewht injury-prone as well. Hell knows what Plan B is going to be. But hey, once we bite the bullet and start thinking of the future NOW, we will be in a better position to cpe when he etires in the next season or so.

It's apparent every time he is injured during a game or doesn't play.

Yep, he is absolutely streets ahead of anyone else in our side.

Right now I'm glad he signed that extra year on his contract which was done pretty hush-hush since the first I remember it being put in the press was in the HS article this year.

He is our engine room - I just look at Willo and compare him to Captain Courageous because that's the same kind of attitude he has.

Maybe this could be the opportunity for McVeigh to make a name for himself. he has always played a support role to the midfield. Now he has the opportunity to take on a major role and make it his own.

After all he was not dropped for a lack of form.

The only silver lining from these injuries to senior players is it will finally force us to stop relying on the same old names and see if we can push the new generation to step up.

Maybe the injury to Willo is the chance McVeigh needs for some extra playing time, and a chance to take advantage of that
