    What Happened To The Banner?

Was it due to a lack of good quality crepe?

Got cocky with the fancy picture.
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

after having such a good banner last week, the banner makers got over confident and their handling of the banner was attrocious! They just didnt stick to the gameplan....

On TV it looked like the players must have run through it but Ch9 missed it and asked them to run through it again? And did one of the CS take a tumble - it looked like chaos out there...

I thought the problem was poor quality sticky tape (I was a cheer squadder once myself a long long time ago).

not to mention the Crows got both verses of that bloody annoying song in, while pandemonium was happening at our end of the field.

vs Roos ... problem with the banner ... bad loss

vs Adelaide ... problem with the banner ... bad loss

Who is into omens? Everyone I was with could only put this as the consistent theme. The ribbon around the swan, lucky undies, lucky shirt et al, worked one time and not the other.

                  Need to fix this one.

(OK, before you blast me, this is an attempt at humour. I've just spent a day in Adelaide and have another 4 days here before I can retreat to Sydney and another day until redemption - please!)

Yes, it was the crepe. Bloody stupid stuff.

As to taking a tumble, that was me (sort of) in Canberra. Nobody stacked it yesterday thankfully although it was a shocking start to a worse day!

Communicationproblem (no names & no blame! just one of those things) led to the banner going up too early. Unfortunately, once it was up we had a choice of waiting about 90secs or taking it down & putting back up again. Unfortunately the wind swirled from across the banner to blow into it. Once this happened, the paper we had couldn't cope and it began to split.

It seemed to me that the tape held quite well, just that the paper betweenthe tape didn't. A real shame, cos it was a fantastic banner. At least Mick's picture survive the breeze. Although "holy" the banner did not collapse, and remained upright for the run-through.

Its a hard call - to bring it down with the chance that they'll emerge at that momen, or to keep it up hoping they'll burst out any second. 20/20 hindsight is wonderful, abd I'm sure lessons (and communication signals!) will be learnt & improved in future.

They didn't pole the banner gently enough.

Gee, if you're in Adelaide no wonder you're trying a bit of humour to lift your mood. Last time I was in Adeliade I spent less than an hour there (a good amount of time to spend in Adelaide) and I only saw the airport (the best bit of Adelaide because it allows you to get out of there by the fastest possible method).

Why don't you put deliberate (reinforced) holes in the banner to reduce the effect of the wind? The top half of the banner could even be made of a sturdier material (I assume it has more tape coverage). It's time to take banner technology into the new millennium.

Also, pole it gently, don't go rushing like a bull at a gate.
