Leo is a heartstopping, gamebreaking half back flanker. Get him off those big forwards and back where he can do what he does best. Standing the likes of Gehrig and Richardson may have been OK as shock tactics but not any more. It's ruining his game and his confidence, not to mention his input into the team.

This is why we DESPERATLY need schauble back! If not someone track down dunks for another run, then if we get in front give him a run up forward so he can display his superior kicking abilities."Red and White for blood cells, Red and White for wine."

He did take a few great marks in defence, but not one of his best games.
LRT, has taken a tall forward out of the game in the first 3 rnds. He was not there this week and the tall forwards killed us. Does this mean we really need him?Comment

Well I saw Schaubs playing in the reserves on Sunday, but in the forwards and he was doing really well - they were not playing against a quality side as the scoreboard confirmed, but if Roos drops the likes of Matthews, C Bolton & Kenneally - bring back Saddo, Schaubs and maybe Schneider or Fosdyke, then put Leo out in the field, it might just work! The way things are anything is worth a try.I used to be indecisive, but now I'm not so sure..................

Roos won't make wholesale changes coz of form, he never has yet!!Comment

And when did that happen? but then I have been away with the fairies of late - due to fatigue, nothing else!I used to be indecisive, but now I'm not so sure..................

One thing to note, on the weekend we pushed numbers behind the ball but probably not to the extent we usually do. The result in the end was more space for their forwards and a lot more contested marks inside in our forward 50 than we have allowed for a while. Probably goes to show how some of our game plan has come about with the lack of height in defence.
The way game unfolded also showed that while LRT has some trouble once he gets the ball, at this stage his defensive work is very sound with his direct opponent not taking big numbers of contested marks against him. He would have been very handy on Perrie during the weekend to just sit him on and prevent some of those contested marks he took.

The reality is there is only a handful of Swans playing anywhere near their best at the moment and one of them is now out for 4-6 weeks.
On one hand it's reassuring we're playing badly & we're still 2 & 2 - on the other, it can only get worse unless the likes of Leo, Tiger, O'Keefe, Hall, Matthews etc start finding some confidence.
Alternatively, we unleash some fabulous talent from the 2nds - I have no idea who that might be.
The talent and endeavour are there I believe - the confidence and the game plan are not at this point in time.Comment

Can't blame Leo for the result on the weekend. While he has been great on bigger and stronger forwards in the past he is not going to be able to stop everyone.

I agree - not blaming Leo in the least, and am a warm fan of his. Just that he's on the wrong blokes. Not his fault.
Some players are going to have to step up a grade or we'll fall off the pace. Goodes is showing signs of the player that once won a Brownlow. But LRT, Bevan, Spriggs and Buchanan have to know the honeymoon is over. We've seen plenty of signs that all of them can play football but they make too many junior mistakes. If they don't step up then it's going to be a long year. And I'll be happy when ROK puts in an effort equal to Ablett's. Roos says these are the players for the next decade - let them show they deserve the chance.Comment
