    Head Cutting

There are quite a few lads that are in severe danger of being dropped or 'rotated' if they dont pull their heads in and start playing some decent football. Sorry if this has been brought up in another thread, but i havent had time to scope em all...
ROK has been very average at best this season. He hastn been a tall marking option or a consistent small crumbing forward that he promises to be. He has had the chance to step up and claim a solid spot up forward with Micky out and a resting ruckman claiming another tall backman. But he just seems to be too relaxed about his position, in that he knows he wont be dropped. You wont see the same desperation from him as you would Monty, who is desperate to keep his spot.
The same applies for Crouch and Mathews. Both have been VERY poor starters to the season. Records aside, Crouch has been comfortably beaten in his last 2 tagging roles by Aker and Mcleod. Mathews is plain poor. He was a good link man across half back, but due to the increased run and drive from HBF that B2, Tiger etc produce, he is no longer so much required.

With 3 key players now out, we obviously wont get to drop and cut as much as we'd like, but if we do actually have depth in our list, test it!!
    - Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in a world they've been given, than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact, it's an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration, it's a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing!

I really fret that I agree with this. I hope it's not an age thing but rather, a statement like the glowing footy boots. If you are a genius you can do what you like. But you'll be judged by genius standards. Pebbles' hairstyle looks like he thinks he is more significant than he is. And right now I think a lot of us think it's indicative of what's wrong with his head space. When he works hard he is important to the Swans. While he thinks he's a star turn he's really just being a waste of space.

Ok this hair thing is probably going to be laughed at BUT:

Is it just me or do the players seem to all play better with bugger all hair. Maybe its just that they stand out more, but Bazza seems to play his best when bald, as with Nicks, and ROK and even Tadgh.

Still remember that classic photo when he played on Bazza. It was like an Uncle Festa convention.

FFS get over what they look like. How long their hair is or if they are wearing zinc to protect them from sun cancer.

It has no bearing on the game plan or how they play.

I will agree with you all that Pebbles has been a bit low key compared to last year, but has it been noticed how much he is also playing away from the goals? And have you also noticed how much the ball is being delivered to Hall, more than the smaller forwards, sometimes in better position? How many other players are making space or presenting without being honoured?

Have we also noticed how much we're trying to run into the fifty and not backing our ourselves by kicking long and taking shots on goal (surely the more shots you have, the more chance you have of scoring). Why does a player on fifty always have to lay off to a player double teamed because they are closer to goal? I say Back yourselves!

Saying this though, his marking has been off compared to what we're used to, but so have so many others.

Yes Pebbles is my favourite, but so many of the team are not stepping up as they were last year. Given his performance last year I am expecting more from him, but then again I am also expecting more from many others too.

Be careful we don't throw the baby out with the bath water.

At least you realise and admit you are biased! He still looks and plays like a freakin girl though

Have we played ROK at FF yet this year?

Sorry Bam Bam, I think the hair is indicative. If you go the other way, I have never had much time for Crawford who seemed all show pony. But he seems to have come to the same conclusion and let go of the captaincy. Then he has gone (back?) to dark hair and, as a part of the Hawks midfield, worked with the kids to thrash the Lions. He has taken a step back and his hair seems to reflect that.

This year Ryan is certainly making a statement with his hair and not making any statement on the field. As you know I supported him before most on RWO noticed that he'd lifted his game. But now he has gone backwards. If I was him and trying to change my mindset I'd cut my hair.

Who knows, we haven't seen him anywhere for 4 rounds. Might be something try in future, but we've had resting ruckmen and MOL play FF this year.

Yes briefly during the Roos game (?) I think but the FF spot will now be filled as long as Magic can walk.

We may still rest him. And ROK is a bloody good overhead mark for his size. Could be used to exploit a situation where a smaller back is placed on him and he slips under the guard.
