Face it, the teams ultra flood/run out of the backline game plan has been worked out by opposition clubs.
wanna start winning again ?? Change the game plan.

Interesting comment about having basically the same team for the last 2 years.

Maybe some of that same team have lost a fair bit, got a bit older, lost some hunger, getting overpaid and team is stale because of lack of new blood who can play.

Robert Walls on 3AW put it well today.

He said we play such a physcial and intense brand of footy it is going to be very hard for us to maintain it succesfully over a year and from one year to the next.

He also said that the stastistics show that teams struggle the week after playing us due to our style of play. Mentioned that a couple of Melbourne players had remarked to him how spent they were after the game and it was the most physical game they had played in a while.

Some food for thought and similar to what ROK has said in the article. The team is finding it tuff to come up week after week playing their current brand of footy.

He made similar comments on On the Couch this evening. Apparently there will be an article in The Age on Tuesday where he gets stuck in to the Swans - will be an interesting read.

          I'm on the Chandwagon!!!

If you cannot compete for the premiership, it's better to be young and exciting than middle-aged and dowdy.

The article was in Mondays paper...and i cant find it online...but i just wanted to highlight these comments from O'Keefe in the Daily Telegraph

Key forward Ryan O'Keefe ruled out a simple lack of confidence across the forward line for the swans goal kicking woes- insteada blaming a departure of the team-first values the club has lauded ever since Paul Roos took over as coach

"I'm not sure what the problem is. I think we are ranked last [in goal accuracy] this year. So far we have been pretty terrible"
" I'm not sure what it is because its not like they have been difficult shots either"
" But it is something we do have to get on top of because its costing us games and its one thing we do have to fix"
" i think we have got to start working a little bit better together. Maybe we are playing too much like individuals- everyone trying to kick the winning score off their own boot"
" i think once we get back to working as a team within a team i think we will be alright then"
A little man is sitting in a room with two doors. One door says "Do Not Enter" and the other says "Do Not Exit". So he just sits there, holding his hat.

Which is exactly why this current game plan is never going to win us a premiership. Consistency is absolutely required in finals. You have to win multiple games in a row against tough opposition. But if the players are too tired from the week before, how can the team back up one good win with another the next week?

As evidence of this, we have not won 2 finals in a row for many, many years. Not since 96 as far as I can remember.

                Not Alarm Bells!

probably just the doorbell at this stage

We go to Perth this week try not to get hammered and more importantly no more injuries then set ourselves for Essnd and Power at home.

These 2 games are winnable for the Swans so even if the Weagles do beat us the next 2 could see us back on track, just need to string a couple of wins together to build some confidence and momentum. Roosy just needs to let them off the leash for the 2 home games.

                Cheers

Our finals performance since the war is crap.

You are right - in fact '96 is the only year we've won two finals in since 1934!

When we do reach finals it's normally quite an ordinary (or really crap) performance. The only exceptions are Port '03 and perhaps Ess '96 and WC '04.
