    Scg

I know, it has been brought up before but don't you think we need to have the SCG extended, so the Swans can play a real brand of Footy???

How do you people propose this?
The stadium is not like Telstra where the stands can move in and out. To rebuild the stadium would be to knock down one side and extend it and then the stands probably wouldnt line up (it is a circular pitch and the stadiums have been positioned in accordance. To change the dimensions of the field would put the stands out of line with each other and the field) and it would look like a half-decent job instead of a decent one.

Its not going to happen - the SCG trust wont allow it because of the heritage of the stadium and I dont really blame them.
And the man who started it, the Schneiderman, can kick his third for the quarter. And the swans are in the Grand Final!

The SCG is a mess. The Noble and Bradman stands are a disgrace and should be knocked down. The old stands could be relocated to another part of the precinct as museums, function room or something. Compared to what the MCG will be and the Gabba the SCG is a third rate stadium.

As for its size, when they demolish the stands and start again they might as well make it a bit bigger. It's that or lose their biggest tenant with 10 years.

It will never happen. The SCG trust's first concern is cricket.

And if the ARU and the Waratahs get their way, a move to Telstra won't even be an option, so we can't hold that over the SCG in bargaining. Unless we act soon and secure first use at Telstra, we'll be playing on the SCG, the way it is, for many, many years to come

Would we lose our possie at Homebush if the Tahs develop their new haven there? You woujldnt think so considering the crowds we draw there at the lack of games the Tahs play at home every 12 months...

We'd get 2nd use, though. So the SCG would still have a trump card over us

Yep - remember the Swans booked first use of Telstra stadium and the ARU wanted the Bledisloe Cup fixture that night at Telstra - and guess who won out - Rugby Union.

Yes, it has been raised before, by me for one, and if the SCG trust want their ground used regularly then they'd better consider pulling a couple of rows of seats out at the Paddington and Randwick ends. Even if it's just enough to separate the centre square from the 50m line. We do need a bigger ground.

You are forgetting the Members and Ladies stands. They are National Trust relics which need relocating.

When you look at how the MCG has been refurbished there is no excuse for bulldozing the whole lot and starting again.

They were the one's I referred to as the 'old stands'. The Noble/Bradman stand would make excellent land fill. Dismantle the Ladies/Members stands and relocate them and build Sydney a stadium, or leave it as it is and move to Telstra. Problem is if the Swans keep playing like they are they will struggle to fill Henson Park by seasons end...

                      Yeah, sorry.

I'd be happy enough to move to Telstra anyway.

Maybe the AFL need to look at creating their own 1st grade Sydney football stadium. They are committed to Sydney for ever, so why not put the money where it can be of most use, and give these

FH, your posts show you have absolutely zero knowledge about the sporting environment of the city of Sydney, so how can you have any idea about how one of the sporting teams in Sydney should be run?

The AFL contributed money for the reconfiguration of Telstra Stadium after the Olympics.

They are also looking at building a massive sporting complex, out Blacktown way i think, out west at least, for cricket and AFL specifically.
