Walls has his say on us

You know we're doing it tough when Walls is pretty much spot on.

glad to see walls put his views, wonder if swans coaches will read it.they should.
now if we have no ruckman next week,it will be more doom and gloom and a 100 new defensive theories.
we may do a "hocking" and stand everyone inside the defensive 50.

Hall, Michael O'Loughlin, Ryan O'Keefe, Adam Goodes and Nick Davis are extremely talented. Perhaps the coach should ask them how they would like to see the ball enter the forward line. Slow, short and wide, or quick long and direct?
A few times the demons chipped the ball to drop just inside their F50, right in front of one (sometimes 2 demons) screaming out to meet the ball, which they were able to mark uncontested. And I thought, why can't we do that. When we did kick it in long it was either wide in the pocket or high enough for a defender(usually Bizzell) to come over and help Miller out. and run away with the ball.

Walls echoes similar sentiments on the couch and the salient point was the bit about how taxing the style of play is. If the opposition is losing the next week because they're exhausted, imagine playing that way every week was the general theme.

The eternal question: Which came first?

The forward leading out wide or the delivery being sent in wide?

Why? I think Barry has forgotten how to win a ball in a contest situation. He is becoming a programmed, robotical footballer.
Exactly what I thought after Saturday night, hopefully it is as a result of the way we are playing, not directly Hall's fault himself.

            Amen.

Hopefully though everytime he has written one of these the next week the team gets up. Although I reckon we are the exception that will prove the rule.

Must admit that our delivery into our forward line has long been an area that infuriates me.

Made a lot of sense except for the bit where he says
They are good at in-close situations
Like hell we are - we have a couple of in and under players who get their hands on the ball, only for it to end up as another bounce. We need someone like Cressa who could get his hands on the ball in tight but then feed it out to a running player.

              I'm on the Chandwagon!!!

I completely agree. Everyone has this idea that we are good at stoppages, but I bet it is very much misguided. Would love to see some stats on clearances for and against us this season.

Well I personally expect a blood bath over at Subiaco this weekend and the Eagles will be the ones turning the taps.

We've lost our run and if by chance we get on a run our inside 50s are the most ineffectual in the league.

Somehow we managed to start the season with the most "big men" we have ever fielded and now we're down to Goodesy and LRT. What's changed since the PF in 2003. Same personel.

We're staring down the barrel at 2 suspensions in 2 weeks. Undisciplined, under-confident and lacking leadership.

Walls is right about the delivery to forwards. It's making skillful guys look clumsy. We need to release the shackles again.

I think Barry Hall in late 2002 was the only one under Roosy...

I would like to see a few more comments on the team and its play after the last few weeks. A bit like teams in Melbourne cop.

May spur our guys on to play a team game as a team and go hard at it all the way through the game.

I would like the SYDNEY media to focus more on a player that is out of form and really give it to him (like they do here in melbs) rather than run a fluff piece like they normally do.

Too much fluff and love with the swans and the sydney media.

Problem is we dont have one journo who is dedicated only to AFL.

A prime example of this was on fox footy on saturday arvo, when Dunstall and Carey were talking to journos in each state. In every other state they were talking to someone with a title like "chief AFL correspondent at the (insert newspaper here)". When they came to Sydney, they talked to... Brad Seymour. Seems like a great bloke, but he's not exactly going to present anything that useful or constructive which an outsider may be able to do.

If the team really needs a journo to tell it that it is playing terrible football at the moment then the club really is in trouble.

I suspect they've already worked it out for themselves...
