    A few more interesting stats

Have been doing a little bit of a comparison across the AFL based on stats that I was already collecting for the Swans. I've picked out some that I think say a lot about our performance this year. Figures in brackets are rankings. Kicks, possessions, tackles and goals are averages per game, scoring shots is total for the year. Accuracy and scoring shots do not include rushed behinds.

Wow, Brisbane make on average 10 more tackles per game than the 2nd ranked team. No wonder they can't win a game at the moment, they're too buggered after all that tackling!

The stat for tackles is quite misleading IMO. Every time you lay a tackle, an opponent must have the ball. The more tackles you lay, the more the opposition must be getting the ball.

Brisbane are #1 for tackles and West Coast are #15. Where are those teams on the ladder at the moment? (West Coast on top, Brisbane on the bottom)

We are sixth for tackles. We are seven places from the bottom.

There are a few exceptions (Richmond and Melbourne are two), but generally the fewer tackles per game, the higher the ladder position.
