May something help us get over them.
    With Adelaide beating Kangaroos
Freo beating Melbourne - we need to get moving - I guess all in good time.
    Love those Swans

Oh, so Freo won? The AFL live scores weren't up yet. Damn. 2/3 tips.
Vicky Pollard: Oh my god I so can't believe you just said that this is like the time I threw Anita's nokia in the canal as a joke and she's like you have well got to buy me another one and I'm like get over it and then Paul came over who's adopted anyway and started saying that I fancy Mark Bennett but oh my god just because I have sex with someone doesn't mean I fancy them.

If the Swans get the undeserved blessing of the gods and it rains all through the game - but still get smashed...... Do you think people around here will begin to admit that this team is finished for the year and that the coaches value needs to be reconsiderd ??
I hope the Swans stay down the bottom of the Ladder. They have been in denial for way way to long. Time to except the wake up call.
Even if they win today it will not address their problems.

I only have one question for you Footy Head.

This is after reading your rantings of the need for Sydney to drop to the bottom of the ladder and enjoy the so called pickings of the draft.

If Essendon have never had a priority draft pick, and trust me they never have, how do you explain their success?

What success is that? They won the flag in 2000, but since then all they've done is just fall into the finals, wouldn't call that great success.

Listen mate I never said that dropping down the ladder in order to get priority picks was the conerstone of my theory as to what the Swans need to improve.
In fact I rate the list a lot more than many others.

What I do think however is that a trip south down the ladder might make the Swans as a club do a bit of soul searching which I think they have conveniently avoided for a long time.

This club is missing somethiing other than talent. It is something more akin to faith. I call it culture..

Whatever, it should be clear now that there is something wrong, but please don't simplify what I am asking for.

I do not think that a priority pick would help the Swans at this stage, with the culture they currently have, the kid would probably under perform anyway after being made to play for 5 minuets every 1/4 off the bench for 4 years before any faith was given to him.

I actually want the club to fall so that the public, the club and the AFL can really come to terms with the fact that despite the good account keeping, this club is missing something which is just as vital to success.

I think they need some new exectutive administrators. Bit of new blood. Bit of soul. bit of culture.

I think It could be coming from the top down. Think about it. How much does the culture of a country change when they get a new government.

This Swans admin have proven that they don't know how to build a club that can perform well for a couple of years back to back.

Which is still much more than what St Kilda has done with all their nice picks.

In anycase I think they have only missed the finals 3 times since 1990 (92, 94 and 97), won two premierships (93 and 2000) and made 4 GF's (90,93,00,01) and won at least one final every year since 1999.

All done without the need to "rebuild" via bottoming out for the draft picks and thus proving you don't need to have early draft picks to improve, just selecting the right players with the picks you have.

Then how do you explain the past two seasons???

That's performing well in back to back years and I would say the same with 96, 97, 98 and 99.

In anycase if anything needs improving its the coaching staff and the recuiting staff, you know the ones who pick the players.

Essendon have had quit a lot of early picks though. I'd say probably more than us. Off the top of my head they have Laycock, Bolton( ), Monfries, Hennemen(?), Bradley, Stanton, Lucas, Hunt.

Just about every other club is showcasing exciting new talent. Apart from Dempster where are the newbies?

Well they rorted the salary cap for years and guess what?

Since they had to play fair they have done nothing!
