Sanecow's game report

OK, here are some things I noticed. (I am looking for confirmation from Sydney and Melbourne based supporters in the next few weeks on a couple of them):

The players do not want to kick to LRT. A number of times he was waving his arms furiously and seemed to be ignored. This can't be good for his development or his stats. However, he does a massive amount of running, roving the ground about 30m behind the footy. Also he skirts around packs (he calls them scrums) waiting for the ball to pop out a little bit like old man Nicks. Dumb as a post unfortunately and makes you tight in the guts if he accidentally gets within 10m of the ball.

I am off the Nicks bandwagon. I have cut it up and set fire to it.

Maxfield looks to have an ankle injury. Limped off late in the game trying to hide it. I don't know if he sustained it during the game (maybe the broadcast showed it?) or if a pre-match or half-time shot was wearing off.

The defensive strategy is to bottle the ball up and cause a holding-the-ball decision or stoppage from which the opposition can run away with the ball. Very, very unimpressive.

Since we were always going to lose, I guess it was better to run Schauble out than force him to play in the reserves.

Goodes at the centre bounce was dreadful and hard to watch. If his knees didn't swell to the size of melons I would be amazed.

Goldspink is a maggot.

WCE supporters are a reasonably tolerant lot.
We need a new game plan. I hope there is a contingency plan to cut the crappy zone-defense game plan after a set number of losses or a certain round and I hope that moment arrives soon.

Not the feral pair who taunted JF, Silent Lurker, etal for 30 minutes while the flags etc were being packed up.

Where were you Cow? You didn't come and say hello!

(or were you the long-haired feral with painted red and white face?)

I got glared at once for my first boo (I think I gave them a shock) and laughed at for offering Sampi big dollars to move to Sydney. I didn't get spat on, yelled at or made to feel like my life was at risk. We were heckled on leaving but it was by one guy and he only said "maybe next year fellas" or something like that (as if we will win next year, hah!). A bit of friendly taunting is alright. I made a couple of bad calls during the game and nobody gave me @@@@ There were plenty of families and kids around which makes the vibe a bit more relaxed.

I didn't move from my seat all game (well, I stood up to yell advice at the Auskick at half time "Go long!"). For team colours I just had the scarf. Facepaint and long hair is admirable but I don't think I could do either.

Something that p!ssed me off was that partway through the third quarter, about half the Swans players had their hands on their hips before a centre bounce. This body language is the sign of a defeated team but the game wasn't even 3/4 over! I gave Goodes a blast for it and he wasn't too far away. Hopefully he heard. We used to get hell for it in high school sport and here are paid professionals standing around in a huff! Hands off hips! Heads up! I would drag any player who stood with their hands on their hips for bad attitude.

Am I the only one who has noticed Swans players let themselves get tackled instead of handpassing to an open McVeigh or Spriggs or Davis? I have literally seen, for example, Jude Bolton going to handball it as he is being tackled, notice it was Spriggs and just let himself get tackled. OK, maybe he thinks its too much of a risk to handpass it but I have seen other players do the same thing a few times this season. I think it is hard to notice those things on TV or depending on where you are sitting. Wouldn't suprise me at all if LRT was ignored by the "senior" players as well...

I think LRT's role in the side is simply to run around a lot and confuse the hell out of whoever is playing on him.

Maybe they could put LRT in a forward pocket, then they would kick the ball into the central corridor in front of goal.

That guy ended off wandering off with one of our flags too. As they were up the back, several of them left early. So obviously did the flag. He WAS very feral, I'll readily admit that!

When the tickets were so mucked up, there was really little that could be done about that kind of thing I guess.

You better return my flags and banners in one piece in Round 10
