West Coast and StKilda are chockers full of 'kids'.

And have suffered their fair share of humiliation to get ones good enough to play at that age. You cant have it both ways.

We have 4 top 10 draft picks for midfielders - what more do you want? We also have a few other kids coming through.

I don't believe I expressed myself properly previously. I meant that you cannot just chuck in 1/2 dozen kids playing their first year and expect to be super competitive. That's why some of our senior players are retaining their positions in the team although their form does not warrant it.
I'm not saying that we have got 1/2 dozen kids in our team at present, only why we won't see Roos put in Malceski, Moore, Schmidt and Willougby in the one hit.
Richmond have probably got 3 first year players in their team, St kilda and West Coast maybe less.
However I would love to see at least one more first year player in our team this week.,hopefully maceski.

I'd love to see us try 3 first-years in the side at one time.

However, I can see the arguments against.

Good teams can afford to do this as their quality players can carry the new ones.
Poor teams can afford to do this as they don;t mind losing games.

The rest have to work as hard as possible so can't afford to have more first-years.
Again, the curse of being middle-table and mediocre.

I was pretty excited with the young Swans' competitive efforts in the pre-season games (really!). It looked like the return of a few in-form senior players to the team would be enough for us to have a good year. I was pretty optimistic. Unfortunately, I think the young, exciting and enthusiastic youngsters went to make way for some older, under-done and injured players.

I can't see how (temporarily) removing (say for the sake of argument) Crouch (or name another struggling senior), LRT and Nicks and replacing them with enthusiastic footy-smart youngsters will possibly hurt us.
