With all the hoopla about it, and the understandable anger eminating from the Swans administration, I thought it may be important to try and work out what the hell was AD thinking / doing?? Here are my picks:
1. He is just plain stupid / rude / dunk / a Sydney-phobe. Probably people's first impulsive choice, but so boring and predictable.
2. He is trying to demonstrate his support for the Melbourne boys club subversively. I mean its not like Collingwood / Essendon / Western Bulldogs have set the world on fire with their displays this year, and have played some dour struggles. The Roos have won fewer quarters than pretty much anyone, yet dont rate a mention on the "boring-meter" (well they blow the lid off mine).
3. (My pick). Its to save face. He wanted Sydney to do well this year so that his desire to remove any concessions for us was vindicated. Brisbane have finally done their part (with the help of Fiztroy lets not forget) and this was meant to be Sydney's year. Now if we finish at the bottom, then doesn't he look the fool. His entire agenda to remove special draft picks and salary cap concessions looks rather vindictive and groundless. Well now his comments look that way, but he is hoping the comments may poke them into action (this kind of links to point one
)
Your thoughts welcome.
