    Roos on the radio

Heard Roos both last night and this morning and he made some interesting comments.

    - Claimed it was only the Melbourne media who were attacking the Swans and said the Sydney media and Swans fans had been terrific

    - Claimed Swans fans love the way they play footy

    - Said that the Swans couldn't do a St Kilda and languish at the bottom for three years and get good draft picks as we would need to swithc off the lights and head home

    - said that the local market dictated the Swans drafting somewhat specifically mentioned the Jolly trade as an example of trading for immediate results

    - said the club was 100% behind Stewie and his domestic situation, and that he would sit down with him in the next few weeks to discuss the captaincy.

    - said the club isn't totally about winning and losing and had strong family values and would support their players through thick and thin, and as a father totally sympathised.

Sydney media has no idea about football.
    - Claimed Swans fans love the way they play footy
Surely he's either kidding or delusional.

    True to some extent.

Excellent opportunity for him to hand over the captaincy and then step down in a few weeks.
Captain Logic is not steering this tugboat.

The kid is only 23 or 24 isnt he? Which gives him hopefully another 6 years at least at the top (touch wood). Hardly an example of trading for immediate results only. Unless they're gonna cut him lose once Erickson and Shaw develop

Roosy is really worrying me at the moment.

Sharpie - I am sure what Roos meant was that in trading our 15th pick in the draft for Jolly, as opposed to picking a junior, we have chosen a ready made player over a junior who may not be ready for a year or two.

Noticed that Roos has very little public exposure this year. Just press conferences and the occasional door stop piece - so all we ever hear from him is the same media bites that drive us all crazy.

Love to see him subjected to an On the Couch session or something similar.

Or even better, a RWO forum so he can see just how much the Swans fans love the way they play their footy ATM.

This Sydney fan HATES the way the Swans play football. I will stay a Swans fan forever but they won't get my money at the gate till they fix themselves up and start kicking the ball and scoring from set shots.

              just my 2 cents.

Well that makes the job easier for the club doesn't it? Why dont we all stop attending so that they can use the complete lack of revenue to get outselves out of this one!

Well it is interesting that Roos says "... switch off the lights and head home..."

Home where would that be ??

For the Sydney players that should be Sydney, so there is no where to go !!!

But I think he might mean Melbourne and even the ambiguity of the comment is dire for this club who are looking less and less like the "SYDNEY" Swans every day.

PS, Ross has to know that the Sydney fans do not like his teams style of play, because even if he does not read RWO (where the critisim has been thick and fast for a long while now), his good friend
Troy Luff both reads and posts on this site regularly.

Why don't they listen to the fans and produce an attacking style of play that we all really want to see ???

                              yes and no.

This trade had nothing to do with the local market dictating our drafting policy, as stated by Roosy. Instead it was just a very good trading decision when comparing a ready-to-go young ruckman who still has plenty of years of footy ahead of him to a potential, but skinny, raw tall kid who may or may not ever be up to senior footy.
