I really do feel for the bloke but this may be his last stand at the club.

Will be interesting to see who gets promoted off the rookie list...

    Vogels or Grundy?

Did Grundy kick 7 goals the other week at the SCG prior to the Adelaide or Melbourne game?
    Swannies for life!

      Try asking Ben Fixter.

We have to keep Doyle on the list (next year). We are too exposed in the ruck area to not.

But it probably means Heath James will go for good next year. List are too short to keep two cronic injured players on there for hope.

I'm really bumbed at this news. For the first time since Stafford was a good player (late 90's), we had a decent ruck division. Now we are back to skin-of-our teeth.

Not quite. In 2003 he made it back into the team for the last couple of games, though might as well have been missing for the contribution he was able to make having played no football for 5 months.

Is there really any reason or benefit to keeping Doyle, James and Fixter in the squad next year? Is there any downside to cutting them?

Unless Fixter and James can manage around a dozen senior games each this year I find it hard to see how they can be kept.

Doyle is still maybe a slightly special case because ruckmen are so hard to come by. But you do have to start wondering if his body will ever be right.

Trouble with knock-kneed injury-prone duds is that they are hard to get anything for in the draft.

Who cares about how much they get for him. He's practically worthless and at the moment he's taking up a spot on the senior list. They should sack him. Let him go take up professional rowing.

Maybe all the weight of expectation is too much to bear for some guys.

We all expected Fitzy was our saviour at CHF, and he's gone.
We all expected James was our saviour at FB, and he surely has to go.
We all expected Doyle would be our saviour in the ruck (well maybe not saviour, but a few years ago he certainly was looking good).

These guys were meant to be integral parts of the team's spine. I reckon if we'd been able to get decent careers out of all three of these guys the swans would have been a far far more competitive team over the last 5 years. For a start, we would have had far less issues with our lack of talls.

Actually Erickson and Shaw both look likely types I would expect Erickson to be playing seniors next year, not only is he quite mobile but he can mark around the ground something we desparately need, so Doyle is expendable.
                        cheers Ian

While I am very disapointed for the big guy, a chronic ankle is a terrible thing (I still do physio everyday).

But every dark clowd and so on, so one of the rookies (many of whom have been performing very well so far) will get an opportunity to be promoted. As to who it'll be difficult because Clarke, Vogels and Grundy have all done very well.

I think we need to promote whichever one can play CHB!

Pity they can't get rid of James and Fixter now so they could elevate Vogels, Grundy and one other.

What's wrong with Heath? Does Fixter have a broken leg?
