    Demetriou does backflip

    Demetriou regrets Swans criticism
"I think in hindsight I would prefer that I had chosen different words to make the point. I probably should have chosen different words to describe what I was talking about, some of the negative aspects, I understand that."
    Huh hum!!

The guy is obviously an idiot, but what he said about the Swans and their style of play is actualy correct.
It's ugly and they wont win many games if they keep on playing that way !

Trouble is, I don't think anyone was ever denying that what he said was true!! It's just whether it's appropriate that someone in his position should have made those comments the way he did

Some valid points, but also possibly a better way to get them across...

177th Senior AFL Match - Round 4, 2009 - Sydney vs Carlton, SCG. This is obviously out of date. I suppose I'll update it once I could be bothered sitting down with the fixture and working it out....

thats the problem, people in his position can think what they like, they just aren't supposed to say what they really think for fear of reprisal as has happened here.

But what he said was right - unfortunately the truth hurts sometimes.
I used to be indecisive, but now I'm not so sure..................

Storm in a teacup. Actually... these things inevitably go around and around in circles, without any real point to them. Tornado in a teacup.

I still think Andy should fine himself for bringing the game into disrepute.

I also love seeing Footyhead siding with him
Look I said the guy is a tosser, but I defy anyone on this board or anywhere to prove that what he said was wrong.

Now instead of having a cheap shot at me, why don't you go ahead and lay out your rebuttal arguments ?

No ? didn't think so. There are none so miserable as the ignorant and uneducated.

No one is shooting him down for having a opinion, but given his position it is a opinion that should not have been made public

Thus getting shot down in flames.

It is his job to run the competition, not pass judgement on how teams are playing or their tactics (if legal).

As unhappy as I am with the team at the moment, Demetriou's comments were disgraceful and well out of order, and would not have been made about a Melbourne based club.

As I noted in another thread, I find it amazing that AD made this comment a week before a forum on NSW football and also has not actually been to a Swans game this year.
Captain Logic is not steering this tugboat.

Of course no-one on this board is actually privy to the Swans game plan, meaning that we're all speculating from a point of ignorance(although yes we all have eyes).
So our perceptions of the style may well be coloured by the question of execution.
The other thing is that this years style certainly differs little from last years, and probably stems from that of the previous year as well (Kirk for example is playing more offensively now than in 2003). Both of which most people would regard as comparatively successfull (albeit not ultimately triumphant).
