As a running player or as a runner?
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

Except that if it was generally thought to be a "dud year" other clubs wouldn't have given up that good a player to get their hands on pick 7 (as it was during trading period).

In any case, it is far too soon to be labelling McVeigh as a disappointment. He was very lightly built when drafted but has gradually gained weight (which surely must be the way to do it). He didn't play any football in his final U18 year due to his shoulder reconstruction so it was known he would take a bit of time to settle back in.

He has shown some glimpses of class - ie the silk that people are screaming out for in our midfield. He is currently a young and inexperienced player in a team that is collectively down on confidence so it would be a big ask of him to be starring.

Even at the end of last season many - possibly even the majority - on here were screaming out for Ablett to be traded, or just dumped if nothing could be got for him. Now he is being spoken of as one of the few players on the list to build a future side around.

      Most young players take time.

Bell is also a classy player who appears to have a big future. Not a lot of top-end talent though. Salopek doesn't get much game time either and has been hampered through injury.

True, but everyone has a different view so you never what you will get.

I don't think he's a disappointment, just pointing out I tihnk the comparison should be wider. I've said a few times that he looks like he has great football skills, unlike so many others in our team, however he did look rather weak on the weekend. I'd like to see him get a decent amount of time in the midfield for a decent period of games and see what he can do.

          Still not sure of that.
