    Thanks Stewie

    Thanks Stewie, perhaps the most selfless captain of an AFL team. You stepped in when Kel left and while the Melbourne press were asking "who?" the Swans lifted and played their hearts out for you. They each said that all they could aim for was was to put in the same workload that you did.

    This year it must have been tough with things not good at home and the team not playing well on the field. It would have been so easy to keep the ego boost of the captaincy at the cost of your own and the team's performance. But instead you have decided to step aside. The perfect clubman move. Thanks again for the past - and the present.

    Now to the future. I hope you are finding things a lot better now you are assured of spending more time with your children. And now you are just playing as part of the team rather than as its leader I hope things are better on the field, too.

    I hope you have a blinder against the Bombers this Saturday and you and the team have a great season. I know all the team are right behind you (and would have been no matter what your decision). Most of the fans fully support you too and we hope you enjoy your footie now as much as you have ever done.

          Was excited by Stewie when he arrived at the club in 1996 and my admiration has grown for him since he became captain. Not only does he push himself to get the absolute most out of himself as a footballer, he is generous in giving his time to fans, invariably being one of the last to leave functions with members.

          Here's to him enjoying the rest of his season just playing football and I reckon he's still got a fair amount left to contribute.

                  Thanks Stuart. You are a true servant of the modern game. Thanks for showing us all what determination is, and how hard work can set an example. You are an amazing bloke who had been a great face for the club while in your position of skipper of NSWs only club. You have given your all to the club, the least we can do is the same in return.

                              Even when stepping aside I feel that Stewie has put the team first. For that I thank you very much. Hard to follow someone like Kell and I feel that you have filled that job to the best of your ability. A job extremely well done

                              Get your confidence back and have fun! Be involved as the finals are a long way away and we never know!
