    Good game swannies

CONGRATULATIONS ON THE WIN LAST NIGHT.

Thought it was a pretty even and for the most part decent standard game, you's were fitter and played better at the end when it mattered the most. Good luck for the rest of the season.

    Thanks for that.
Even though you blokes are struggling there are a few young blokes showing promise.
Sheedy had a joke with Roos about trying to poach Lovett.I hope he was trying hard because he looks pretty handy.

I thought the team played well with two debutantes and Dempster still new.
Moore is well built and did well and so did Vogels - both worth acquisitions for Seniors games.
Buchanan played well and I am upset for Nick Davis.
Sorry he got injured so quickly - great start it would of been.
Hope he keeps healthy and has a quick recovery.
      Love those Swans

Yep, but it's not like the Bombers were chockers full of experience.

Agreed, but I watched the game on tape a couple of times and noted a few positives (and negatives):

          1. We look better with Leo Barry running. This was the first game I have seen this year where he really 'took-off'

          2. Saddo is a better player than what I remember. His disposal was dodgy, but that is to be expected. Has good ball winning ability. Having him in balances the team. two talls in and two smalls out means a better balanced unit as a whole.

          3. My heartrate increases 3 fold when Tahg runs forward of the centre line. We would be two goals better if Roos would listen to the wise and faithful and play him in the middle as an outside receiver

          4. Kirk has great handball skills. I had never noticed before, but he is almost williamesque in his ability to find a player with a handpass from a stoppage.

          5. Matthews is a master of the hospital handpass. I saw him give it to a player in poor position at least 3 times. Not good. His kicking is not much better.

          6. Buchanon plays better when his place in the team is under pressure. One week in, one out?

          7. Goods should never have been moved out of the ruck.

          8. Moore looks capable of walking through a brick wall. Keep him off the KFC and he could be something.

          9. Our overall play was more direct and few 'handball chains'. When we did string together 3 + handballs, we inevitably came unstuck.

          10. Last but not least, LRT may develop into a good defensive stopper but will never create play - doesn't have the football smarts for it.

Presumably because he wouldnt be able to give away two goals in defence like he did Sat night?

I too would luv 2 see what he can do further up the ground if simply because his clangers are less likely to prove fatal.

Yes, it was quite an even game, and an even matchup. Both sides had acting captains at the toss. Both sides were missing their best midfielders and best ruckmen. Both sides were playing a couple of kids. Both sides made last-minute changes.

It was a good contest, and the Bombers' accuracy was freaky. The Swans on the other hand were wasteful in front of goal. The winning margin of six points was the number of posters the Swans kicked.

Yep - he always looks quite accomplished when playing loose, hence why I've always thought he'd make a good flanker.

                4. Kirk has great handball skills. I had never noticed before, but he is almost williamesque in his ability to find a player with a handpass from a stoppage.
He's generally excellent with his clearances. If our guys played more positively and ran forward, his handballs forward would be even more effective (as Blight noted a couple of times).

                6. Buchanon plays better when his place in the team is under pressure. One week in, one out?
                Seems that way doesn't it.

That's because the handballs are frequently to a player standing still and next to the opposition. There are only so many handballs you can do, especially if they are not going forward, without putting yourself in trouble.

Yep - his only chance IMO is really becoming a stopper. I don't mind that but I'd rather try some other players in the meantime who could potentially do both.

Interesting... We don't need LRT to create play - just give it to C. Bolt, Kennelly or Leo...

Maybe also because with each additional handball, the probability that Ben Matthews is on the chain increases!
