Sydney must beat the Port scum

For any ex-Adelaide Swans supporters, this game's a big one as we love to watch our team flog the Port scum. With both Sydney and Port coming off badly needed wins last weekend, this Sunday both teams will be out to prove that they really have turned the corner by posting another win. It promises to be a top game and deserves a big crowd at the SCG on what will hopefully be a beautiful sunny Sydney autumn day. I can hardly wait.

Sydney beat a team who has been crap most of the year, even with Hird, by the skin of their teeth (or goal post , to be more precise).

Port beat a team who has been winning most of the year by a large margin.

I think it will be a big task to get over them even with Jolly and Ball back. Tredrea and Wanganeen, were back to there best yeterday.

Got to agree with Scott. We beat a team that has underwhelmed in 2005. Until we can put pressure on the scoreboard by making the most of our oppurtunities we will struggle.
May be the only thing we have going for us is the smaller SCG. But then I liked the way the Swans played on the bigger Stadium Oz.

In case the Swans win the next five games straight, let's get a consistent RWO approach set up in advance:

Port - after a lucky win at home they fell back into their previous lacklustre standard

Doggies - after a lucky win against the down-at-heels Lions, the Dogs went back to capitulating on the SCG.

St Kilda - injuries have them fielding a team of reserves and losing to the Swans suggests they aren't the "real deal" anyway.

Carlton - showed their lack of spine against the Tigers and continued that to lose to the Swans

Freo - can't play away from Subiaco.

        continue ad nauseum . . .

        See it's easy.

We are well on the way to wining 12 games (not 18), finishing 6th, and hanging around the finals for 2 weeks max.

Ho hum, the life of a swans supporters has a certain monotony.

If I listened to some of you guys, I wouldnt bother wasting my time to go watch the game. As it is, I think Sydney are in with a chance against Port, albeit, it wont be easy.

When 1 comma is never enough.

The comp is so even and we have played so poorly at times it is hard to gauge where we will be at if we improve. I think Port will be a good test but the significance of the result a little hard to determine straight away. If we win and Port then continue to lose then GS's comments above are probably on the money. If we get beaten but Port then begins its surge to the top 4 then maybe the loss is not so bad. If we lose and Port continue to lose to everyone else then that is really a bad sign. I hope we win and then Port start their surge to the top.

I find it unlikely that any team in the comp will win their next 5 games. I don't think we will.

They said that after the Brisbane game, and so many times in the past.

I think 13-14 wins is achievable, but I can't see us doing anything threatening in finals.

If we come out and thrash Port by 10 goals while leading all day, I'll jump back on the bandwagon.

That would mean a fundamental shift in play:
                            a) We will kick on when we get a lead, rather than defend it.
                            b) The team plays well.

Even then, we'd need to win almost every game to finish top 2, and avoid a perth final (assuming WC stay top).

Keep the faith, the comps very even, if we start kicking better who knows. Top 2 seems like a pipe dream though.
Don't forget we were 3-4 at this stage in 2003 as well
