Well whenever I am having a bad day at work I jump on afl.com.au and watch that last quarter again (along with Sat night's one). Still get a mini adrenaline rush every time we score. It also keeps me upbeat about our chances.
Each to their own.
I prefer the Port QF 2003.

Actually, it was quite a good suggestion as I just watched the first half of the Essendon match again. The key thing I noticed in the Bombers comeback is that we didn't do enough when we had control of the game - our forward structure needs a lot of work.

@@@@ yeah. And our delivery was very haphazard. The only difference in the last qtr and a half was that we managed to keep it out of our D50 and continue to push it forward. Got rewarded for effort, but even then only just.
I think a 4.5 return when you have that much control over the clearances and the general movement of the ball over the entire ground is pretty poor. It should have been more like 7.2 and a comfortable 4 goal win.

Which is strange because this is the least difficult aspect of the team on paper - 1. Hall 2. Magic 3. ROK / Davis (oopsie) / Schneider seems like a no-brainer to put together. Except if you want to cycle everyone through your midfield, when it gets trickier.

This is one of those "truths" Roos needs to learn from RWO. Like the one where Goodes plays best when in the ruck.
Keep the forward structure as static as possible. Keep the midfielders in the middle, the backs in the D50. Let the groups bond, and get on with perfecting their roles.
Have a look at who have developed the most in their time under Roos:
1. Leo Barry - excellent defender now even though he started as a forward under Eade. Why? He has not been moved from Defence during that time.
2. Kirk - started as a forward pocket with limited success. Extensive time in the middle over three years and VIOLA we have a really solid and handy midfielder.
3. J Bolton - see 2.
4. C Bolton - see 1 (less success though because a bit more movement)
5. ROK - well last year anyway. The shifting around this year has actually made him less effective.
6. Hall - see 5.
I see a pattern. And it points to a shift back to the older style of thinking - each player has to make a position their own.
Sure you can have "utility" players if you need them, but keep them to a minimum. A team that has three KPP, a few more in set places, and 16 "utilities" will by very nature remain a team that is a Jack of All Trades and Master of None.
Well no - I think there is a fine line between being confident or hopeful that we can't improve and simply expecting it and not allowing anyone to have a view otherwise.

Not allowing anyone to have a view otherwise.WTF.
Reading your posts of late it would seem like you are the self appointed negative Nazi.Any view you don't like gets a sarcastic response.
I don't agree with much of the doom and gloom rubbish but I have never said anyone is not allowed to have a view.
My gut feeling for this week... a blowout. Both teams have been low on confidence. Both got a little back last week but both will be brittle. A side that gets away early could really build on last week's performance. A side behind early could implode. For this reason I think a lot could depend on goal accuracy, and luck, and on how hard both sides hit the ground running.

I never said you did and I was saying, no - what you just wrote was not what I was talking about (I was responding to "I know, the mating call of the loser" and I also wrote later I wasn't talking about the type of comments you just wrote).

I don't trust anybody's "gut feeling". Until I see a string of wins in a row I will remain sceptical. For me this game is just 50/50 to win. It can go either way. I wouldn't bet my money yet.
