That star midfielder may be around the corner...

    So we have:

    Cats
James Kelly, Jimmy Bartel, Steve Johnson, Cameron Ling, Joel Corey and Corey Enright

    St Kilda
    Nick Dal Santo, Lenny Hayes

Anyone else up for grabs at the end of the year (at this stage)?

Surely we can snag one, although it would be interesting to see who would be willing to come here. Thoughts?

I struggle with the hierarchy on this board sometimes. How is that General Chat? We are talking about recruitment for our team.

We need a star midfielder or two.But how can we get even one. Most of our players are hard goers with poor skills and hence little trade value.
I can't see us trading Hall,Goodes,Kirk,Bolton so we are left with trading draft picks and I doubt we will have a top 5 draft pick this year which is necessary to get a decent player.
Not many top players go into the PSD so it would be hard to organise a top players that way.
Jude would probably be the only player that could interest other clubs.I doubt we would trade him.

I tossed it up where it should go, and I opted for the General, to save the Mods moving it??

I hazzard a guess nobody reads anything other than "RWO Chat" board, unless pushed over to another.

I say, leave all AFL related stuff here. Make the site a heap easier to read. Its not like the traffic is overflowing.

Of those mentioned, Del Santo is the only one worth selling the farm for.
I still linger hope that Lenny Hayes will stop off home sometime in his career. Probably only part of the answer to our prayers through.

              But a core midfield of:
              Jude Bolton -in and under.
              Luke Ablett - general
              Lenny Hayes - receiver
wouldnt be to bad for the next few years.

I always hit the "View New Posts" button so I see all new threads wherever they may be hiding. Depends if you can be bothered logging in though.

I like Ling but he and Kirk play the same role.I want a Paul Williams MK2.Fast,skillful and a good long kick for goal.
                      Which one of those qualifies?

In order of my preference (I left out Dal because he is out of our league IMO):

                        1. Lenny Hayes - NSW boy, may well be easiest to snare
                        2. James Bartel - very exciting, polled well in the Brownlow
                        3. James Kelly - lightning quick and good skills
                        4. Steve Johnson - very creative, extremely good kick for goal

All would fill the Williams shoes nicely IMO, and I agree that others like Ling duplicate our own talent. I think Kirky is as good a player as Ling, but plays in a lesser midfield group so gets slightly less credit.

Majority opinion can mean very little on RWO.

I'd be happy with Corey or Enright too. Johnson is probably more of a forward than a midfielder.
Captain Logic is not steering this tugboat.

I personally find it extremely difficult to pick a midfielder that will help us - outside of those that are a class above like Judd, Dal Santo, Ball etc.

I've found it interesting this year that players like Power and Notting have looked pretty ordinary at the Lions now that the team is struggling a bit. Bringing a player of their quality to the Swans may not actually help if we don't fix our other problems first. Look at Caracella at the Pies.

Anyway, I think it's more likely that St Kilda will struggle with the salary cap than Geelong so there may be an option or two there. Saints players are constantly talked about as being stars - Cats players aren't. Collingwood and Essendon constantly trying to push up their wages may bear fruit soon.
