Hard at the man, hard at the ball, good in the air, couragous at ground level.

Only one mistake where he dropped a finger tipper filling the hole in from of tredrae (cruelly cheered by the anti-LRT brigade), but otherwise a real solid performance. Certainly outshone other CHB hopefuls in Vogels and Dempster.

were you watching a different game? he didn't do horribly but you couldn't say he outplayed vogels, and especially dempster...

I wouldnt say his game was great but it was certainly very solid. He is pretty willing to get involved.

One area he could improve is his marking. I notice that he seems to hang a bit too long in the air trying to mark the ball out of the defence. This makes it easier for the opponent to spoil and bring the ball to the ground to their advantage. May be his anticipation is too sharp but once he could iron this out of his game, he would be much more useful when we have the ball.

Were you at the game or watching on tv?

He was rarely out-marked, and showed great aggression when attacking the ball.

He certainly out-played Vogels, considering Vogels spent more than half the game on the bench and LRT was on for most (if not all) of the game.

His best for the year, and hopefully he can continue to improve.

He set the scene early by attacking contests really postively. For the first time for a long time (excluding pre-season games) he looked like he really believed he belonged out there.

He didn't seem to get much of the ball as the game wore on but the fact that his opponent barely saw it is commendable. Comparisons to Vogels and Dempster are a bit meaningless since they all play different roles and are at different stages of advancement. But it was still an encouraging performance from the Hyphen.

His marking judgement wasnt so good today, but I think the wind was a significant contributor to it. He wasnt the only guy that got caught under the flight of the ball, though.

Ah, the finger tipper would be the one where he ran under the ball...

His attack on the ball was good today, although he still did some ordinary things. His handballing and kicking are both rather poor. In the second quarter there was one pack situation where he was the tallest player, completely missed the ball on the attempted spoil and allowed the smallest player in the pack to mark.

I can't see any possible rational way to describe his game as great, but it was okay, reasonably solid. Still, one would hope so after 30 AFL games, particularly to a guy playing his second AFL game!

His game wasnt great, but it was great to see some improvement. He definitely held his own today and simply based on today's effort he has earned his place in the team for next week. And he certainly shut down his opponent almost completely.

IMO, anyone who is critical of him for this game is being unreasonably negative.

No - I wouldn't be particularly critical of his game in that he did some good things and has improved a bit. But, it is about time he showed something. Hopefully we can see further improvement, although his disposal skills remain a worry.

Even his disposal wasnt as bad as usual today. Hit a target a few times and I can olnly remember once when he stood around too long looking for an option.

But he still has plenty of improvement to do.

and i dont think its overly negative. this is a professional team, which means there arealways other players that are wanting a spot in the team. yes, hes tall,
but as of next week, we will have Jolly, Ball, Saddo, Schauble, Vogels, who are all tall and able to play senior football.
if one player, not jsut LRT, but any player, is making some simple mistakes, should he be left in the side in front of another player?

Schuable was also in that pack. Are you going to have a go at him too, or conceed that in a large pack environment its not hard to get pushed off your line, and smaller players end up with the ball. It happened to O'loughlan early in the game.

A "resonably solid" comment by an LRT-hater like yourself is proof enough for me.

Being a KPP player in a team that kept Port to one of its lowest score (did I hear that correctly), is no mean feat.

I cant see any of those players even in Roos' mind for CHB. Lets remind you:
Jolly, Ball - Ruckmen, come forwards
Saddo - a failed CHB, now utility.
Schuable - Now our 2nd FB depending on the barry matchup.
Vogels - Forward having minimal impact.

Yes I do think that LRT had a good game but my Dad thinks he is still learning.
