I didn't see much of the Lions v Magpie match. Did Matthews really start Brennan on Tarrant? Or did he move him onto Tarrant when the game was all but won? And didn't Tarrant kick several goals on him?

From memory, Matthews actually introduced Brennan in the pre-season games, which is how it should be done.

I've never heard of Ferguson, so I'll have to be guided by you on that one. Can I expect to see him start on Hall on Friday?

I would be staggered if LRT gets a start on any of those players. But that's certainly not the only option. If he's going okay in the reserves, then he ought to be promoted soon . . . . just not to start in a key position.
matthews moved brennan on to tarrant after tarrant had cained leppitsch, tarrant got two (from memory) very late goals on brennan...

Maybe, but you didn't give me much time ot think of any!

Brennan went on Tarrant after he had destroyed Leppitsch and Michael. Tarrant kicked a late goal on Brennan when it was all over, but Brennan generally stopped him.

      Agree absolutely.

He looked quite good in the first Melb game against Hawthorn and has played since. Certainly not a star, but looked solid. It will be interesting to see where they play him.

I agree, but I was just pointing out that sometimes rookies can surprise as KPPs.

There would be a good chance that Ferguson will be playing on Hall, he towelled up matthew richardson in the pre season and has been a solid contributor since then.
Obviously with ellis and nicolson out for melbourne those two may have played on hall, but their out for a while.
Bizzel may play on an oloughlin or davis.
But if my memory serves me correctly last year against melbourne at the mcg, melbourne had a player called lamb playing on hall, and i think you will find NMW that he might get first crack, although he did get smashed by hall last year.
Definately out of Ferguson and Lamb - ( If he is playing ? )

Ah yes, I thought he had played and beaten Richardson at some stage.

Hasn't there been some hype about Brennan.
Didn't see the Thursday night game but they've certainly given this kid a wrap.

SO, why is it every second kid that walks into the Lions turns to gold???

I refuse to believe it's purely their recruiting prowess that is doing it (similarly I refuse to believe that we continue to recruit duds). What Brisbane have created is something very very special and has an amazing effect on all those who are come into to it. Given that we have apparently modelled ourselves on that, will we ever get to a similar level???

Stevens needs to be groomed as a versitle KPP (CHF, FF, CHB, FB). The days of only CHF are long gone.

I dont quite understand what the opposition to him going down back is. He may make a meal of it in his first few games, but in the long run he will be better for it.
Starting him off in the hole in front of Neitz this weekend would be a good start, with Bolton directly on Neitz.

The truth of the matter is that Dunks even had great trouble holding Neitz...he's one of those wrestling type players who has good strength to hold his ground as well as lead. It worries me who will play on him...schauble is not the answer at FB...do we have anyone else who can hold Neitz to 3 or 4...???
"Davis...Davis has kicked 2...he snaps from 40...dont tell me, dont tell me, hes kicked a goal....unbelievable stuff from Nick Davis, can you believe this, he's kicked 3 final quarter goals and Swans are within 3 points..."
