I think the dropping of Schauble is a Roos ruse. If it isn't, I think his plan is to play him on the ball in the twos to give him some in-game fitness work.
Anyway about the team for Sunday...

Nicks in Schauble out! What is that about? FFS! I thought Schauble had a very good game last weekend. He is one of the smartest players in the team. Stupid decision unless he is injured.Occupational hazards:

Rodney should bring Jade Rawlings back into the side (I notice he is only named as an emergency, I was certain he was playing this weekend...) and put him in the forward line. Sure, he can't kick straight (for goal at least)- but out of the 20 marks he would take he is sure to do something with 1 or 2 of them!I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his timeComment

And there is also no logic in the counterarguments - the complaints above are about Schauble not LRT.
Yes I guess I should have named Schneider and should have checked to see if he was playing, which he still might. Then again in the Herald Sun this morning there is a snippet saying both Schaubs and LRT are out yet are named in the team , not on the bench in the team sheets. Answers a pineapple.Comment

Not overly surprising if you analyse the makeup of the Doggies team. They've been playing Robert Murphy and Brad Johnson in key forward positions, and they would probably run off taller guys like Schauble and LRT too easily.
The only surprise is that the players cut were named in the starting 18. I've never seen that before, I've always assumed that you could only cut from the extended bench.
And why is it for almost all my life supporting the Swans that we have to match up on them.
We have some handy players so you would reckon Rodney would by scratching his head on how he was going to handle Hall, Williams, MOL, O'Keefe etc. They don't seem to have a surplus of taggers or experienced backs.Comment

Thanks Schaubs you are a great clubman and our best full back option, but we are going to kick you right in the guts and drop you for playing well.
Team balance is all that counts, even if we bring in a short, overweight, outside playing forward pocket who refuses to chase in the forward line and needs everything to fall his way to perform, and an elder statesman who was out of form at his last 2 outings at senior level.
I cannot for one minute believe that roos has dropped Schauble. Sure he ain't fast, but he is the most important lynchpin in our defence I think. Gives us height, is generally OK skillwise. and is less likely to handball willynilly like Tadgh Leo or even Bolton.
Not happy if Schaubs gets dropped. Is Roos finally going mad?!

I can understand us dropping one of LRT or Schuable for height reasons, but to drop both is stupid. Who's going to play CHB? Bevan?
Schuable is the underated key of our defense. He may not do the spectacular but adds a whole dymnamic to backline matchups we miss if he's not there.
So, out of the 3 CHB's we've worked on in the last 3 years (LRT, Schabs, Goodes), not one of them is lining up there tomorrow.Comment

A few things to keep in mind when considering why Schauble was dropped:
1. Its at the SCG. One really dominant KPP-like player at either end is plenty. Obviously Barry has been the form KPP over the last few weeks, so another is not a compulsory requirement.
2. The WB dont have two large bodied players, let alone three, that they can afford to throw forward. Maybe Roos is trying to tempt them to put Grant in their F50 and so free up Bazza.
3. We need speed and close checking to stifle their run. Neither Schaubs nor LRT come close to fulfilling this role, as thats justnot the type of players they are.
4. We have a very capable FB option in C Bolton, and he is much quicker than ther other two.
I'm not saying thay I agree with Roos decision, and the proof will be in the pudding.
Its amazing though how we cant go a week without a whinge and moan about the club though. Two weeks ago it was Stuey Maxfield and the captaincy, last week it was letting Nick Davis play, and now its about creative coaching. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion for sure, but damn its a hard job the admin and coacing staff do when there is so much nit-picking going onOur Greatest Moment:
