Ok, a bit harsh on Saddo, but my point still stands that Rawlings will surely play and have a very big influence on the game. The swans are wishing it on themselves with the side they've picked.

This club has really done some mind-blowing things this season. Just see my sig. for what I think about yet another staggering decision.

The side that has been picked basically shows how little confidence the match committee has in our team to get the job done. Yet another defensive move by picking a side to match up against the Bulldogs instead of making them match our height.

It seems like the same philosophy that saw Goodes move from the ruck to a set position and not return when his knees were better until Roos had absolutely no other choice (against West Coast) - it was taking away our greatest advantage which gave the opposition coaches the biggest headache just so we could defend their forwards slightly better. Or the same philosophy that has meant all our best midfielders have been molded into defensive ones. Or the same philosophy that sees us try to win games with the lowest score possible.

I agree with the general sentiment... but Rawlings isn't worth concerning yourself over.
      We hate Anthony Rocca
      We hate Shannon Grant too
      We hate scumbag Gaspar
      But Leo WE LOVE YOU!

So here was a chance to put Schauble into the key position and free up Barry for our desperately needed run.

This is a decision to suit the day surely. Small forward line, fast breaking opposiiton, I could not figure who Schauble would pick up in this game....it seems like a sensible decision IMHO.

I just cannot see how Nicks is a better choice for our back line than Schauble. Then again, maybe I just dont know enough about the Dogs players. NMW's suggestion about using Schauble as a KP defender to free Leo to run makes a lot of sense to me.

Nicks is a faster and more agile defender than Schauble . . . if the Bullies forward line is going to be built around Smith and Johnson, then Nicks has to be preferred. However, I'm surprised that it has come down to an either/or situation . . . I would have thought that a place could have been found for both.

I can remember at least two occasions that the Bulldogs have cut us to shreds by playing a 'small' forward line, both during Eade's time in charge at the Swans.

In those games it was Rohan Smith who was nearly unstoppable . . . in fact the only effective measure we had against him was when Dunkley knocked him unconscious!

SChneiderman, you forgot one thing regarding containing a fast running side. It is the SCG, the best ground for any side to bottle a game up and close down players.

Hours and hours of high impact aerobics, then take your jockstrap off, wring it out into a jar, boil off the water, and voila... you just made your own edible salt.
