Although I don't know much about the ACTAFL, it surely doesn't bode well for the future, if our youngsters/2nd tier players can't beat what I imagine to be a team from a much, much lower (standard) competition. I also see that now Port (Boro) have thrown off the 'stigma' of being associated with the swans and embraced the kangas, they're off to a flyer this season...
"Davis...Davis has kicked 2...he snaps from 40...dont tell me, dont tell me, hes kicked a goal....unbelievable stuff from Nick Davis, can you believe this, he's kicked 3 final quarter goals and Swans are within 3 points..."

At least it is pleasing to see our young recruits and young swans players all in decent form.

Swan_Song.... Ainslie are a mature aged team full of ex-AFL players. The Redbacks also contained a significant amount of top-up players that are around 17-18 years of age.

        Not quite panic stations.

          agree charlie

actafl is quite strong, many good afl players have come from there, like hird,c bolton, hamill and a lot have had experience with the rams.usually only about half the swans team are from the swans list, when you consider that 22 are in seniors, probably around 6 or 8 injured and many of our players are first year out of u18's

          Joe:"Sure coach,what number is he?"

What stigma is that? Getting them to the Grand Final?

Another current ex ACTAFL is Blumfield ex Don now Tiger. I am very hopeful that James Meiklejohn is also an addition to the list this year . His game against Ainslie was very good and he seems to be improving steadly.
While on the subject of Ainslie they always have some exAFL players as players or coach. The most notable in recent years have been Jamie Shanahan and David Cloke. The club also has enough money to buy quality players from Country leagues as well as players from the major City leagues to complement their juniors.
Ainslie is well off financially and own a golf course which they built and spent mega bucks on re developing their own ground and facilities .They changed thier name to the Kangaroos and if the AFL Kangaroos were to re locate to Canberra it would be in partnership with Ainslie. At present this is not likely to happen. The AFL Kangaroos ' Dean Laidley also coached in the ACT.
