    Forward Line Pressure

OK, if anybody has a direct line of communication to the coaching box, please tell them to encourage our forwards to put more pressure on defenders when they are carrying the ball out of our forward line. I see the ball coming out of our forward line all too easily week in and week out. I have not had a chance to see the Bloods live yet this year, so maybe I am being premature in my assessment...I have seen a host of other teams though and I have noticed that forwards from other teams have been working hard to keep the ball in their forward line. I think that our forwards get a bit too lazy at times and once the ball is lost wait for the next kick in to them.

I did, however, notice that they were getting better in the game against the Doggies and applying a bit more pressure on their opponents getting the ball out. I still think that this is an important area of the game we can significantly improve on (I do realise that there are a lot of these at the moment though). Anyones thoughts...? Am I being too harsh...?
    Go you mighty BLOODBOYS!

            Other way around.

I think the forwards have been working particularly hard this year. Or at least the same as in any preceding year. Hall is a good defensive forward and vogels has been good defensively since he joined. I don't have any stats, but I think we compare favourably to other teams in this area and always have.

Lot of anger today...why can't we all be friends?

Sunday was definitely our best effort at forward pressure - 2nd & 3rd qrs in particular, it really turned the game around. For wahtever reason, we havent been as tuff this year which is surprising cos it's definitely something that Roos instilled in the team in recent years.

That would be backward pressure not forward

Oh so you agree. Didn't seem like it the first time around.

Its just that they can't kick as many goals as they have in recent years. At the moment we are the lowest goal scoring team in the AFL.

Forward line pressure is vitally important but the losses were caused by a multitude of problems and areas such as cleaner disposal in the midfield have improved. For eg. in the first 1/4 against West Coast the forward line pressure was excellent yet only one goal was on the board at the end of the first break. Problem was it didn't get in there often enough and when it did it wasn't to the forwards' advantage. And they won the stoppages in the forward area.

I think we improved last week. They seem to definitely be tackling harder.
