Was I just mistaken, or did Ross Lyon just use the words "attacking role"? Looks like that criticism of the Swans' drab midfield wasn't warranted after all......

I came away from the game on Sunday thinking that Ablett had been OK, but not much more. His horrendous shot at goal was prominent in my mind.

Watching the replay it has become evident that he had another pretty good game. He seems to be able to do both the offensive and defensive at the same time, and while his delivery does need a bit more polish (as highlighted by Lyon), he is good at keeping the ball moving forward in a constructive way. It was his kick, under a bit of pressure and tight on the boundary line that found O'Loughlin and Hall lurking together on the 50m line that led to Vogels final goal of the game.

It was nice that we went forward on that occasion rather than look for the boundary line.

I would have thought his old man played more than 38 games. I remember him as an Ok player, very quick. Guess there was some reflected glory from little brother that impacted my memory

Geoff Ablett was a very good wingman. Kevin was quite a bit slower.

Our Ablett is one of the big improvers - I hope he makes the most of whatever chances come his way. If he (and Barry, Mickey, Ryan etc) can get over their kicking yips we'd be in clover - even at Telstra Dome...
