he has not necessarily reduced his clangers or positioning himself better in the contest which would actually indicate an improvement in understanding the game

But is LRT's improvement enough to warrant continued selection in the side, especially ahead of an experienced quality player like Schauble? FWIW, I vote "No".

Thats another issue complete. If Scuabs was good enough he could displace C.Bolton, L.Barry, Saddington, Dempster, etc. After all he is our FB (not LRTs position).

Stick to the question.

FWIW, I vote "Yes".

On a scale of 1 = going backwards at an alarming rate, 5 = staying still, 9 = improving enormously, I vote 6.

But as the Cruise Man says - it's all relative. I've seen nothing thus far to suggest that LRT is a better choice than Schauble.

If Schauble was included, and if the matchups suggest we need another tall and if none of the reserves players appear likely, then run with LRT.

None of the above are new comments. They don't appear to be particularly "anti-LRT" either. But read it whatever way you like.


If we can't find a decent young tall who is better suited to CHB than LRT for next year, I will be rather amazed and disappointed.

barry can u explain why or what a b) player is, rather than just claiming that LRT is one. Your arguement to defend your claim that he is a b) player is simply to restate he is a b) player. SOrry but i need more than that.
And yes LRT is improving, the point is, just because your improving from "crappy" to "just average" doesnt mean you should be heralded as the next mesiah.
LRT does not read the play well. Barry, when you come home from the game, sit down, watch the tape. Watch LRT's movement around and under the ball. He gets out of position easily, and reads the flight poorly. I also dont consider crashing into packs an ability to read play, as it is merely a matter of crashing into players who have actually read the flight of the ball in order to shut down their ability to take a mark - no skill in that at all.
The one thing LRT has over Schauble is fitness. Schauble, bless his heart, is not the most gracious man in action. SO it comes down to what type of team we are playing and the possible match-ups. It DOES not come down to whether LRT is better than Schauble, as anyone who is being objective about both their performances will realise that that is an arguement already won before it has begun.
Schauble, without a doubt, has more skill as an AFL player than LRT.

You know that players rotate around positions in the backline and half backline. There is also the domino effect of retaining LRT in the side meaning that Schauble is left out. I've made my view known about that so I wont repeat it again.

barry's little grading levels:

"a) Keep Riewoldt to his "average" return for a game, thereby puting LRT in the middle ranking of AFL CHB's.

b) Keep Riewoldt to below his average return, thereby ranking LRT to one of the better CHB's in the AFL.

c) Keep Riewoldt to slighly above "average" but not a match-winner, thereby putting LRT at the lower end of AFL's CHB, but not the worst, which is where he is ATM IMO."

Although he seemed to confuse himself with hs grading levels...

Unless he has yet another grading list...
