I don't think just sacking people for the sake of it is the answer. And as someone said, the choice of who to sack would be difficult - there is a fairly long list of viable candidates.

Whether we like it or not, the list we have now will probably not change a great deal in the next few years. And I don't see a problem with that - the players we have are not bad ones, or at least they have proven themselves to be decent in the past. If we could just find some confidence from somewhere and reduce those basic skill errors, I don't think our game plan would come under nearly as much scrutiny as what it is now.

We've got to be patient. Change is not going to happen overnight. But I'd at least like to see our players backing themselves and taking some risks as a start.

I cant understand why people buy this excuse. Who was our best player put up for offers, Fosdike. Warfe and Nicks? (Davis's was a kick in the ass, I presume). If we offered Crouch or Mathews for trade, they would surely attract some flies.

Don't agree with trading Crouch - for goodness sake - what is your problem with Crouch.
He is one of the few players who will tackle, get in and under.

While reading this anyone enlighten me on why St Kilda players - quite a few - have their wrists taped? Receiving intravenous help? Same with West Coast Players.

At least the swans didn't get smashed like Port Adelaide today 117 points.

Could of been by West Coast but only about 1/3 of that.
              Love those Swans

At least Port got a flag to talk about in the last 10 years.

With all the devotion and professionalism of Crouch, I think he deserves a chance to win the flag before he retires. Clearly we cant seem to get a hand on one while he is around so I thought it would be fair to him that we offer him a chance to achieve his ultimate dream.

They've probably been watching Sydney and had a go at slashing them.

I'm so over Paul Roos' attitude to everything.

He shows no sign of understanding that his boring and ineffective gameplan is a dead end street.

Having also been regularly quoted that Sydney is a great town for AFL as players can get away from it all and not have pressure after a loss makes me sick. As does his constant excuse about not having the talent.

Mr Roos, either make drastic changes (e.g. get the ball in long and quick to our TALENTED forwards) or p*ss off, as we will never rise above mediocrity with your current ideology.
"As a player he simply should not have been able to do the things he did. Leo was a 185cm, 88kg full-back and played on some of the biggest, fastest and best full-forwards of all time, and constantly beat them." Roos.
Leo Barry? you star! We'll miss ya, ''Leapin''.

Who would want to coach Sydney ?
Its not Paul Roos who wants us to just make the finals every year. Its Colless and Demetriou. Roos has the nouse to deliver finals every year and now admits thats what he is trying to do, but when he started he was quite keen to rebuild from the ground up. He's buckled under pressure.... as anyone else would probably do.

Just making the finals every year (even if we manage that) won't cut the mustard with the Sydney populous for all that long. When we have just made the finals, we have usually been unceremoniously bundled out, more often than not in the first round. Apart from fading out in 96, we had our best shot at the flag in 2003, but faded out in that last quarter (again) against Brizzie. I have no doubt that had we won that game, we would have been able to beat the pies the following week...
If we make the finals this year, and at this stage even that looks problematical, I can not see us beating the main contenders -- Weagles, Cats or Demons -- playing the way we are at the moment.
"Davis...Davis has kicked 2...he snaps from 40...dont tell me, dont tell me, hes kicked a goal....unbelievable stuff from Nick Davis, can you believe this, he's kicked 3 final quarter goals and Swans are within 3 points..."

                              Of course it won't.

                              Look at SCG crowd numbers:

                              1994: 9.4K
                              1995: 15.9K
                              1996: 25.0K
                              1997: 36.6K
                              1998: 31.5K
                              1999: 26.8K
                              2000: 22.6K
                              2001: 27.2K
                              2002: 20.0K
                              2003: 26.4K
                              2004: 26.9K
                              2005: 26.7K

Peaked in 1997, but then when the realisation hit that we weren't going any further, there was a gradual drop off in interest.

Roos isn't a fool. Blind Freddy could see that our game plan failed against St Kilda. We've won our last 3 games before that against poor opposition ( I know port are the premiers but the auskick kids played better than they did against the swans).
Roos is a great tactician and I'm sure he's going to make changes to the gameplan in the next few weeks if we are to beat a good team.
I don't think the gameplan is all that is too blame for last night anyway. I don't think all those turnovers and lack of confidence is part of his game plan. I don't think sackings are going to help- who really believes that will build up confidence in the team.
Looking at what he has achieved in 2 years, I think it's very harsh to call for his head.
