    Saddington at CHF?

If Saddington wants to always go for the grab, why don't we play him at CHF.

He can then play the attacking player that he wants to be, and from what I have seen is a pretty good shot at goal.

He is a solid overhead mark, surely it is worth a try. He is a talented player and definetely not worth delisting!

I'd try him there, or in my favoured spot for him on the wing...
"Davis...Davis has kicked 2...he snaps from 40...dont tell me, dont tell me, hes kicked a goal....unbelievable stuff from Nick Davis, can you believe this, he's kicked 3 final quarter goals and Swans are within 3 points..."

I'd like to see Saddo on the half forward line or on a wing. I'd try Stevens in the backline as the 'tall' replacement for Saddo.

Now all we need from our marking forwards if for them to take marks!

          I'm on the Chandwagon!!!

Who are our current forward marking options?

BTW - we are currently the 3rd worst performing forward line in the comp, marginally ahead of Geelong and StKilda, and that includes our 146 points against Carlton. Adjust for that and we are not so good...

Its not the forward line or the backline that is the problem.

Its our midfield and ruck. Even the best forward line needs quality delivery, and the best backline needs some midfield pressure when the balls coming in.

We need to drop J.Bolton and try and fast track Davis, ROK, and a young beanstalk into the midfield as soon as possible.

I think we have more problems at the back than up forward and that's why we need Saddington down there, especially now Dunkley's gone and we don't have many 100-gamers at the back. I hope that in the coming seasons he becomes as important to our defence as Dunkley was.

i know someone will correct me with a bucket load of stats BUT i reckon Saddo has been the invisible man this year with few stats of any quality.I agree that a change to a forward position would be worth a shot but, i accept, the backline is poor and the mid field is the real problem.Come back Cressa...oh and Swatta and Kel.
I cannot understand the desire by some to move lewis thompson into a key position when they haven't even seen him play.....he ain't the answer to any position.

I think we have problems all over the ground (some more so, some less) and I don't think it would hurt to experiment with Saddo in the forward line.

Sure we can experiment but why ? The forward line is not our problem and Scott Stevens can hold down the CHF better than Saddo imo. Is this the week to experiment CHF anyway ? At the SCG ?
I believe saddo should go no further than the wing.
He has been groomed for a defensive role and we will probably need him down in defense more often then not, this week against a Paul Wheatly for example.

i dont think we need anymore forwards since the existing 1's already go for the same mark at the same time and spoil each other so i dont think we need to crowd the forward line more

We wont be cramming it up any more. It will be the same amount of people there just one different name. Our forwards should be able to work togeter by now. They need time to develop together, not continual change.

I would be happy to try Saddington on a wing or CHF, but at this present moment we lack tall defenders - so in effect would only be "robbing Peter to pay Paul" .

I think we are jumping the gun with Saddington for 2 reasons.

Firstly- a teams defence relies heavily on the pressure up the ground from the midfield- as a lot of opposition goals this year have come from midfield turnovers and clear centre breaks our "entire" backline has been exposed - not just Saddington.

Secondly- with retirements, injuries and new faces, our backline is completely different to last year and will take time to "gel" together. More specifically the retirement of Dunks means that Saddington no longer has the luxury of taking "3rd man over the top" marks as he is now taking the No. 1 or 2 forwards.

I personally think the spot light has to go on to finding "quality" midfielders and a ruckman/ KPP - the forward line and defence look to have the potential to develop over time- I don't think this can be said of our midfield.
