No but for the first time in ages I'm excited about our local result. Ulverstone beat Devonport by a point. What a cliff hanger. (off the topic I know but hey its good news and there's precious little of that at the moment)"The Dog days are over, The Dog days are gone" Florence and the Machine -

I think I've seen enough of this crap - young players would be going backwards at this level.Originally posted by ugg

Well after that, if Schauble can't get a spot in the seniors against Carlton to play on the likes of Fevola and Whitnall, either Roosy has officially gone mad, or Schaubs may have played his last game of senior footyOriginally posted by Ruda Wakening

It's hard to imagine that the standard of the Canberra comp has plummeted in the off-season, and if memory serves we only just made the finals last year. In any event, we certainly weren't dominant and lost our share of games.Originally posted by Foreign Legion

I guess all that the sudden domination means is that the new rookie listings are half-decent players (and haven't been ravaged by injury). If we're still a ridiculous margin in front of the pack at the end of the year, apparently the SFL is worse than ACTAFL, so the options are limited unless we spend some cash and form an alliance with a VFL side. (I say an alliance presuming that we would never be allowed entry as a free-standing club b/c the VFL clubs would refuse to come up here every second week.) Might solve the 'standard of comp' problems, but would be a pain in the arse and disruptive for the youngsters to have to fly out to Melbourne every single damn weekend. At least in Canberra it's only every 2nd weekend and they're not likely to think, 'if I'm coming down here all the time I might as well switch to a Canberra club', whereas that would be a real risk if we were going to Melbourne.Comment
