Who shd get the job on Neitz?

Dunks found it tough...so who do u reckon shd take on Neitz on Friday? Shauble??? Saddo??? Warfe??? Matthews??? Nicks???
    What about Hall? or Goodes???
    Doesn't look promising does it?
"Davis...Davis has kicked 2...he snaps from 40...dont tell me, dont tell me, hes kicked a goal....unbelievable stuff from Nick Davis, can you believe this, he's kicked 3 final quarter goals and Swans are within 3 points..."

I actually favour the approach used against Carlton, which is to use 2,3 even 4 players collectively, as Melbourne's forward line is even more one-dimensional than ours. Apart from Neitz, Green and Robertson are their only other real avenues to goal, and they're about as consistent as Melbourne's performances over the past several years.

    I'm on the Chandwagon!!!

If you cannot compete for the premiership, it's better to be young and exciting than middle-aged and dowdy.

How about one from left field - what about Leo Barry?

I don't think Schauble is fast enough and Saddo strong enough to handle Neitz, but Leo might be both. I know he is shorter but he does possess a great leap!

Because the SCG is a bit smaller we might get away with this and if it doesn't work early we go to plan B.

I'd play Schauble at CHB and try Saddo at CHF this week - Melbourne don't have a tall backline.

      Cheers.

I think the important thing with Neitz is to block the hole and don't let him go one-on-one against whomever he is playing against.

We do what Essendon did so effectively in Round 2 - we put our best defender on him and double-team him with whoever's nearby. Saddington (if at CHB), Kennelly, etc need to be dropping back on him everytime the ball looks like it's coming down that way. The $64 question is: who is our best defender - we certainly don't have a Dustin Fletcher.

Just as importantly the midfield needs to play it as hard as they've ever played it and choke Nietz's supply by stopping Demons' midfield from getting effective kicks to him.

I think it needs to be somebody strong, to try to encourage him to lead more rather than outbody his opponent. I think Schauble is possibly the only who could probably do that.

I dont think the question should be who should get the job, more like how many. Last year at the mcg V melbourne there were 2 or 3 of our boys stepping in and helping dunks and it worked very well.
However we must be wary of Robertson and Green. They cant be under estimated. They can just as easily kick 4 or 5 each.

Is that sarcasm? One out of left field would be to play Barry Hall on Nietz. At least that way he may get some ball. It would make our delivery into the forward line a lot less one-dimensional.

Correct me if I'm wrong - but did not Neitz manage just one goal in his last two games at the SCG when playing against Dunks?

Interesting to note that nobody is suggesting giving the job to the current wearer of the number six jersey.

Yep, Bolton on Neitz with Schuable to float in front with Tadgh and Barry running it out.

The best way to counter Neitz is buy putting pressure on the Dees at the other end of the field.
