    Swans Reserves v Wagga Review

Well I am all thawed out after my trip to Robertson Oval for the ressies match yesterday after 3.30 things started to get a bit nippy.

I am happy to report that despite Saturday nights debacle there is hope for the future taking into account the opposition Tigers have been riddled by injuries this season there were still some outstanding efforts from our guys.

The three S were outstanding Schauble Schmidt and Shaw closely followed by Malceski, Spriggs and Willoughby. Schauble played all day up forward his marking and kicking were excellent 6 goals from a fullback was a fine effort.

How nice it was to see a midfielder with excellent skill and poise Schmidt has class written all over him reminds me a little of Greg Williams especially with his build. His kicking is spot on and his hands are deceptively quick he has spent a year and a half in the reserves thats long enough get him in the seniors now.
Sorry guys forget the score 27 10 to Tigers 4 4 a 144 point win.

Rod Carter is a good judge he said Earl Shaw would make it in the AFL and he was right his tap ruckwork is outstanding time after time his taps went to his teammates his work around the ground is getting better and I reckon he is a chance to debut this year.

Malceski is also very close to senior selection had a stack of possessions kicked 4 goals and what I like is he can kick both feet unlike a certain player from Osbourne. Josh Willoughby is a highly skilled footballer and he has bulked up but I worry what might happen to him if he was knocked around a bit but his pace and excellent foot skills should see him get a chance.

Special mention to Matt Davis playing on the wing has he got some toe, we could do worse than give some of these youngsters a go time for some changes Roosey.
    Cheers Ian

Thanks for the report. I hope some of these guys get a game soon. They probably would at any other club.

Thanks for the report, Ian. Was Sundquist playing? I got a soft spot for that kid.

He was had a pretty good game but still behind a few of his teamates for a senior spot in my opinion.

              Thanks for the report Ian.

About Shaw, was his opponent a proper ruckman? The last time they met Wagga at TS, the Tigers ruckmen were significantly shorter than Shaw and Ericksen and hence were comprehensively beaten at the ruck contests.

Correct they were shorter although Steven Priest is a handy ruckman for his size but I was still impressed by his accurate tap work of course put him up against Jeff White and it might not be so easy but still there is something to work with.
                cheers Ian
