No-one is saying we should be installed as new premiership favourites, and yes we did "only beat the 16th team". But Carlton are still a decent outfit, Waite and Whitnall had great games, and our two experienced ruckmen had their pants pulled down by a debutant.

Happy to see the massive improvement over last week's effort but certainly not getting carried away. Freo next week will be an interesting test, depending on which Dockers team shows up.
    Interesting about the ruck duels.

I thought it was very noticeable when Jolly went fron the centre bounce contest we lost most centre clearances. Ball does not seem to have the same prescence.

1stQ, about 17 mins in. Ball comes on, game changes. Same in the 3rd Q. Last Q Jolly in ruck we take over. Sure Ball gets a lot more around the ground but Jolly seems so much more effective at centre bounces. Is it an illusion? Thoughts please.

I don't think its an illusion, though yesterday I think Jolly was ordinary at centre bounces against Bryan. Ball has never been a great ruckman for us at stoppages, especially in the centre. He provides a contest but that's about it. He does provide tremendous value around the ground though, and it was good to see him looking far more comfortable than he did last week.

We needed to win. If we didn't, that would've been it. I had high expectations and I was very pleased. We had a thrilling 1st qtr too. When they got back in front by 1 point, I got a little worried and thought we were giving the game away when we couldn't.

Nick Malceksi played well and I was glad he got a game. When Craig Bolton went straight down the centre and delivered the ball to O'Loughlin, I thought he should've gone all the way. What a magnificent goal that would've been. It was so possible.

Worst thing about LRT is his decision-making. Can you trust him?

I know. Not only is it the decision he makes, it is more how long it takes him to do it.

I have to agree. We look much better with Jolly on the ground than Ball. Jason makes space well around the ground, but he would want to with how many games he has played. Jolly will pick that up (I hope) with time, not to say he is bad at it at the moment but just doesn't have the experience of reading the play that Ball has.

Ahhhh Buchanans goal was very sweet

Good to see it excited him as much as it did me!
A little man is sitting in a room with two doors. One door says "Do Not Enter" and the other says "Do Not Exit". So he just sits there, holding his hat.

Ditto, twofold, Bon Bon. It was an awesome run.... standing up in my lounge room, alone, shouting at the screen, "Carn Craig! Carn!"... Oh what football does to a usually sane woman!

But I liked what he did with it -- broke free, took advantage of the opportunity that presented itself, and was selfless by looking [and hitting] the best option. I like unselfish, smart play. And I class that unselfish, smart play.

Considering the spoil by Fevola was a blatant free not paid by the umpires, I'll give him the benefit of the doubt. As well as the valiant effort to spoil the Whitnall mark in the last quarter despite the fend-off applied to his face.

Isn't this the idea? I always thought Jolly was a "Tap Ruckman" anyway. Though he is a bit more athletic than most.

That was definately superb from C Bolts, but my play of the week was definately Nicky D's chase and harrass of two Carlscum defenders to present a goal from ROK.

What's the bet that this will be number one in the 1% awards for this week?
