Farmer! Where will the drought come from?

Who can go with the Wiz on the ground and in the air?

If Roosy gives this job to Nicks, there will be a flood for Jeff, we can guarantee that!

Crouchy may be good on the ground but Crouchy is a lizard across the turf, he won't go overhead. Plus I want his run through the centre of the SCG.

He's their most dangerous forward at the moment, so I guess that leaves Leo...again!

Goodesy to run with Pavlova and try to do what he did to Kouta with a bit of tag teaming with B2? Pav's a bit more dangerous than Kouta, so maybe more B2 and less Goodesy! ha

Start LRT on Pavlich, tell him not to worry about how many disposals he gets himself- just wear Matthew like a glove and make a contest at every marking opportunity.

For at least the first 3 minutes.
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

crouch has to get the job IMO, just a perfect matchup for him and for these small 4ward types in general. sure we lose his drive but given the right opportunity can still create something. farmer is playing some pretty good footy at the moment so we have to stop him completely

i reckon pavlich is the key matchup and would go with barry or c bolts. depends where he plays though and i'm tipping he'll play more in the goalsquare.

im more worried about sandilands standing in the goalsquare, who is gonna stop him?

Dont think Pavlich is much better than Riewodt though . My major concern is how should we use Schauble this week? in the reserve would be an option to me. Dont know what else we could do with him.

Pav's a CHF these days, so C Bolt or LRT, with the other on McPharlin.

Maybe Barry for Farmer. Medhurst is another to watch.

I assume Kirk on Hasleby and Crouch on Bell.

I think Kirk is too much an attacking weapon now for tagging roles like this. We may well use Ablett instead, and then Kirk gets Black on him?

I think McPharlin is still a couple of weeks away - did a hammy against Geelong. Big help for us because he's been proving a strong target up forward since they moved him up from defence.

Crouch should go with Farmer and I think LRT or Barry on Pav.

Farmer does present a bit of a matchup problem though and it may require an unusual roster shuffle to keep him in check. Could a guy like JMoore handle this? If all he had to do was defend, his strength and quickness could minimize the wiz's magic. It's difficult to find a player to match Farmer's quickness, leap and strength.

I'd play Crouch on Farmer. He normally does get him, and there have been times he's been soundly beaten and other when he's blanketed the Wiz. Don't think we have any other options.

Goodes marking Pavlich as a CHB would be a waste of one of our best assets. I'd give B2 the job and then let Freo worry about Goodes. Not sure that LRT is ready for Pavlich yet - he plays smarter football than Riewoldt (ie relies on his brain as much as his skill and athleticism).

Kirk will get a defensive job because he's able to do it at the same time as being an attacking midfielder. He's played on Bell in the past and done well but probably doesn't matter if it's Bell or Hasleby.

Reckon Connells might be of the opinion that CHF is almost redundant on the SCG. I think he will give Pav the licence to roam and that would eliminate LRT and Leo to some extent. It's not an easy one to solve.

Honestly, I reckon the mf is much of a muchness. They are similar to us atm with some of their runners on the injured list. I'm not scared of Hasleby as Kirk has been at least as effective this year (plus Hase has been injured too) and Bell just hangs around the HBF picking up easy kicks as per his old team-mate Schwatta. That's not gonna hurt us. Headland could be back and would be an ideal match for Ablett: you'd like to think that NOG is in form and in front of a Dessy who's just back from injury. Similar types of players. Maybe they'll play Josh Carr on Willo if he comes back in. Matthew Carr is injured IIRC. Cookie negating on B1. Mundy and Black will also be in the rotation.

Based on the above we should win the mf, although it will be dependent on Jolly & Ball playing well and Goodesy as the spare-parts man.

The bigger area is our defence and their attack, and our attack and their defence. I reckon Nicks on Medhurst given Nicks is strong in the air for his size and reasonably accountable, and crouch on farmer. If we win one of those positions (and break-even on the other) that'll make a huge difference. With McPharlin still injured they will be looking for other avenues hence their small forwards are critical. For that reason, I can't see Pav playing too far away from the square. I reckon Leapin will again called on to play above his weight, although if LRT could break-even (bear with me here) this would allow Barry & Tiger to get run off half-back with B2 the link man to kick long to the forwards.

Must say I'm a rap for B2 this year - always has been consistent but has stepped up this year imho.

With a decent feed from the mf, our forward line should do well. Their backline will be stretched if Davis, O'Keeffe, BBBB and Magic all fire.

At the selection table? Out Schauble (no real match-up), and in Dempster or Saddo.

God, the last time I was this positive we copped a hammering.

Could be a tough game but you never know with them.

After their shocking loss last week they are going to come out firing. They did against Geelong.

However, when they have lost this year, they've followed up both times with another disappointing one. Hopefully that trend continues.

The only thing they've been consistent with this year is being inconsistent - consider:
                            Beating the reigning premiers
                            Beating Melb at the G
                            Flogging Collingwood by 20 goals
                            Getting pantsed by Hawthorn
                            Beating geeling at Geelong
Copping it from Bris at home.

I'd like to think we'd win, but I'm not certain. I'll pick Freo.

Methinks you are giving too much credit to Farmer. He is not dangerous IMO. As Julian says he is a fruitcake. Medhurst is more damaging. I hope Roos is smart enough to make his own analysis ( I think that people who have played the game thermselves know who the pretenders are) and not let himself be influenced by other people who say "watch out for blah, blah because he can cause you damage". Farmer is just a show-off. Yes he will kick a couple of goals in a game and carry on like a two-bob watch and the media, because they can only report on anything which is slightly sensational and hence creates a "story", will blow it up to something which it isn't. I just hope Ros isn't fooled into wasting a quality player on the likes of a Farmer when that player could be far more useful further down the ground.
