Very much so - oh how tough it is for them, let's all feel sorry for them...

Another chapter in JF's online autobiography...
I hope you've been keeping them too. I'm planning to print them out at the end of the year and have them leather bound. Seemed appropriate somehow...

Unless like most people you apply for more than one uni course...

The article was refreshingly frank and I'm surprised that the lingering desire was brought out in the way it was. Shows he's human with strong family connections. No real surprise. What it also means is that in future we will have a player who may not mind being traded with a "Mexican' club and that could result in an overall win-win. We've got a few players with those physical attributes at the moment and there's only so many that you can have on the field at the one time.

Remember how a few years back we couldn't give Troy Cook enough game time in our squad and there was no doubting his hardness. I have to say I was very pleased to see him get a permanent spot with Freo. He regularly features in their best players.

I guess the choice of whether to apply for a Uni course in a place you really didn't want to be would still be yours though.

That's where i think it's a little different to a kid who wants to play AFL but who mightn't want to go to Perth if he lives in Brisbane. He really doesn't have any choice.

That's the whole thing, if you go into the draft, you know the consequences. If you want to make it at the top level, its the chance you have to take.

              I'm on the Chandwagon!!!

If you cannot compete for the premiership, it's better to be young and exciting than middle-aged and dowdy.

This isn't about choice of city though - it's about the fact that you have to leave home and family at age 18. Lots of people do it for whatever reason and often have no choice if they want to pursue their career of choice. They survive and thrive. It is no different for footballers than for many 18yos.

You obviously didn't have to go to Uni to get onto the funny cigarettes.

I think, oh Rude One, that it doesn't matter to most draftees where they go as most see it as a once in a lifetime opportunity. Accept of course if it is to Sydney.

I moved over from country WA to Sydney as a 23 yr old .
The impact of Sydney living takes getting used to. The size
and pace of the place had me heading back west more than
once. But a lovely lady entered my life and Sydney wasn't that
bad after all. Marriage and two kids and son in law later the
move to Sydney was the best thing I ever did.

I can understand how these young blokes feel, with leaving
home and family and moving to a place like Sydney.

Sydney is like a big country town compared to London, New York, Paris etc etc. I love living here because it is so peaceful and easy to live in, which suits me fine at this point in my life. London was a great place to live though in my early twenties.

But Sydney is like an enormous city compared to a small country town!!

True, though I find it always refreshing to hear them admit they're human.

If there was nothing there all along.
