    Second tier

The best games i have seen for a while from

    McVeigh
    LRT
    Monty
    ROK (not the lobster variety)
    Mathews

McVeigh & LRT probably their best games ever.

Monty, despite a couple of brain explosion handballs worked hard and played a good all round game.

ROK despite inaccuracy in front was back to his hard leading, strong overhead best.

Mathews had an absolute cracker cant believe he was not in the "
    best"

It makes so much difference to us when we dont rely on our "superstar" brigade and the second tier steps up !

Agree - which was good because most of our top tier only had so-so games IMO. Williams and O'Loughlin were both pretty good and Leo did OK under less pressure than normal, but Goodes, Kirk and Hall were just OK in my view.

It's amazing how McVeigh seems so be lifting now he doesn't spend most of the match on the bench.

I am not happy with ROKs form the past 5 weeks.

He is working hard and all that and I admire his courage, no doubt at all. HOWEVER:

He seems to get a bit desperate after he misses a set shot and then goes onto have a snap at everything that comes his way.

When Roosy talked about misses from shots on the run that are letting us down a bit, he was no doubt referring to ROK (and Monty except for the past 2 weeks).

Some of the stuff he's having a shot at is reasonably doable and other stuff is just downright impossible but he's trying the impossible when he needs to think about it a bit more.

With each missed snap, he then goes on to lose his confidence for more gettable set shots or shots on the run.

Go back to basics Pebbles and keep assisting for goals and have shots when you're in good position to nail them.

Or how the deliberate blooding of him via senior and then ressie matches is having the desired effect...

Let's give the coach the credit when players start to come good, rather than assume we were right even though we did nothing to make it happen

Give us a break will ya, yes the Swans coaching panel probably doesn't trawl R&WOnline in search of ideas. Yes we realise we have no ability to influence what happens at the Swans.

So what if it's a coincidence that McVeigh's improvement has coincided with him getting more game time, and Monty's with moving into the midfiled rather than a forward pocket (2 of our suggestions)?
Similarly if R&WO's warnings against using Goodes at the centre bounce had been heeded last year perhaps he'd still have two good knees.
Doesn't mean we weren't right. Or that we shouldn't celebrate that or anything else good that happens with the Swans.

I think you undervalue some of the thinking that goes on here, some R&WOers are extremely erudite in their thinking. In fact I would go so far as to say that I actually have considerable respect for some of the stats oriented posters . . . even when we disagree!

So feel free to start a "Roos knows best and we're just a waste of time" thread, but I fully intend to continue on as per usual.

It was interesting to see Paul Roos giving some plaudits to Dempster after the Freo game although I didn't think it was his best.
He has previosly played mostly in defence but was more up the ground. If he can work on the radar, his enormous kick could be a real plus for the Swans in both general play and kick ins.
