My feeling is that our game is something more or less unique to Australia and I dont see why we should need to internationalise (is that a word?) it. I am happy for it to remain unique to our sporting culture. As for tapping into potential players, I'd be truly very very surprised if one single potentially talented enough American would be interested enough to come here to play, what with grid iron and soccer dominating football in the states and the potential money available to quality players to play in those codes there.

I always love the reaction of those who would rather die than imagine Aussie Rules "American Style". I'm sorry to tell you, the cat's out of the bag, and we can't put it back in. We seppos have gotten our teeth into your game well enough that the game will always be played here.

        Regarding this match:
        - This match is not necessarily being driven by the AFL. Alan Johnson's been trying to get this together in conjunction with his Australia Day Festivals in Los Angeles.
        - This is something we've been hearing about for some time now, and Alan Johnson has had difficulty getting another team to play the 'Roos in this exhibition. Both the Crows and Pies have back out in previous years.
        - Roosy's expressed an interest in having the Swans take a week or two for preseason training here in LA.
        - The UCLA facility would make the SCG look like Subi if they want to seat 10,000 people. The surface is as good as any you could find in California. It's similar to Telstra Dome in that the surface is built over a carpark.
        - In 2004 we played an exhibition with the American Revolution vs. the California Bears. This was to be the curtain raiser for the Roos and Crows, but the Crows backed out. We were able to coordinate the exhibition with the Family Day BBQ as a part of the Australia Day Festival that year.
