The Tall and Short of it...

Watching the West Coast v Melbourne game today, and i couldnt help but notice how tall the majority of West coast players are..
even their midfielders are tall... bar perhaps two of them

whereas we have.. our ruckmen, neither of which we can consider overly mobile, and adam goodes

can any of the stats gurus on here work out just how big the average height difference is between the swans and west coast? would be an interesting stat.. we like to call our midfielders midgets, but seriously, overall.. how bad is it??

All those numbers!!!!!!! That has just sent me into a mind spin. All I see when I watch the Weagles and I watch them a lot is their skill not their size. That must be the difference between right brain and left brain people. (plus I adore David Wirrpunda)

They're built pretty strongly but they also have pace and class in abundance.

Some people use all their brain and notice their skill, class, poise, decision making, height, strength, and speed!

                    And these days, Goodes.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

LOL - not thinking in terms of numbers doesn't make you a half-wit, just like being able to think of numbers doesn't mean you can't of other things.

Hmmm, I'm not sure how much 'brains' comes into basic addition and division using a calculator. Not that I'm not appreciative of those who go to the trouble.

                          Who isnt. An awesome player.

But teams always look taller, faster, more skillful when 3 games clear on top of the ladder.
Just remember how slow, short and error-prone they were in the Sydney final last year. Come September they will be hopefully somewhere in between.

mm i suppose you right... there doesnt seem much a difference in height..
but it just seems so.... i dunno.. EASY for them god damn it.

although the midfield height isnt that different, if you exclude the mids, and just consider backline, ruckmen, and forward line...
heh there is some number crunching for you...

id expect there would be a reasonably difference in backline, as our backline seems pretty short

When Schauble plays, our backline is fairly tall. When he doesnt it can get exposed by the likes of Saint kilda.
