So when Schaubes doesn't play our backline is shorter. But he played against StKilda which made our side taller, played ordinary, got dragged and our backline got exposed anyway with him in against Saint kilda.

Leaving aside the performances of the players in question, it is IMO preferable to have a couple of Key Position Players down back because even if they are beaten a little, by their presence we may have gotten more run from the smaller players who didn't have to guard the opposition biguns.
