In the injuries, it only lists Jolly's elbow and not Kirk's leg (whatever happened there).

I am also confused how Leo Barry was listed in Sydney's best and Ryan was not. Alot of people told me they thought he was either BOG or one of the best. It seems stupid Ben Broad didn't!
Vicky Pollard: Oh my god I so can't believe you just said that this is like the time I threw Anita's nokia in the canal as a joke and she's like you have well got to buy me another one and I'm like get over it and then Paul came over who's adopted anyway and started saying that I fancy Mark Bennett but oh my god just because I have sex with someone doesn't mean I fancy them.

      Short points

      - 2nd quarter was amazing, won the ball, kicked it forward quickly, goaled (x9)
      - rest of the game was mostly the same old Swans. Chip it around or poor skills was frustrating to watch.
      - Geelong were really undermanned, shouldn't get carried away.
      - Umpires were horrible, they just aren't consistent. Barry Hall gets manhandled by Scarlett and Mooney and gets nothing, even gets pinged for HTB. Kingsley and Thurley receive soft free kicks down the other end.
      - Buchanan was fantastic around the packs, just don't let him kick for goal. Ever.
      - There is an audible groan whenever LRT gets the ball. Who says Swans fans are uneducated?

Yep that's true. I can't call him "sedimentary" (or sed for short) this week. He had a genuine dip.

I thought it was a poor win. Again Sydney only really played one quarter of football. Geelong was vastly undermanned and they are a young team who can not afford to have many players out.

Roos is such a great coach. No really. I like how we started scoring so many goals in the second quarter through the BOG performance by Goodes as he played out of the centre. So impressed was Roos that he moved Goodes to the half forward flank to get him to stop influencing the game. Brilliant move! I also enjoy watching 14 kids, umm, I mean players chasing the ball around the field. Also having no forward or midfielders playing in the forward line or in the midfield is always great, the last thing you want to do is have players a kick away from the ball.

After every Swans game I will say it. The umpires are ruining the game. I am seriously considering whether or not I want to be a member next season as it is really getting too unprofessional for me.

Ironicly, I specifically recall the passage of play you are refering to. Sitting in the Cheer Squad watching things live we did exactly the same thing.

I still re-interate my case that LRT is a ruckman being played out of position. I just wish Roos would try him there. He played some darn decent football in the ruck in 2003.

He is a tag short for the ruck position though. CHB is probably his most suitable position in the AFL. His natural game in the ruck is to follow the other ruckman around so certainly playing him at CHB does not harm his game much.

Are the umps this year so desperate to preserve Melbourne clubs? I wonder how much are they working under direction from the top of the AFL? Any comments?

The same problem exsists in realtion to umpiring as to the AFL it's self.

Government does nothing but corrupt Aussie Rules.

But you can't tell people, because they are addicted to the idea that authority is good and neccessary.

It makes me sick and if the game wasn't so compelling I would abandon it because of the bias and over umpiring.

I think the umpiring this season is the worst I can remember it. It really does determine the outcome of some games. Basically there are too many rules and in nearly every contest a free kick either way could be picked out. In essence the umpires see what they want to see. If they favour certain teams or dislike others they can easily accomodate these biases. For some reason they seem to dislike Sydney and we don't even get home crowd umpiring in Sydney. We have not had a positive free kick ratio since round 7 and we have had the biggest discrepancy between for and against than any other team. If, as another poster has already said, we could get fair umpiring we could beat anyone. But it won't happen.Mind you, a couple of the frees we gave away were pretty stupid. I just wish the umpires would butt out and let the game flow and only pay absolutely blatant frees.

First 8 inside 50's of the quarter resulted in 8 goals. Remarkable efficiency. Won clearances, moved it quickly, but most importantly put it to our forwards' advantage and hit targets.

Agree, although there were patches in the 3rd and 4th where we looked to get it together again.

                      - Geelong were really undermanned, shouldn't get carried away.
Agree, however as the old adage goes, you can only play the opposition that is out on the park, not those sitting in the stands.
                      - Umpires were horrible, they just aren't consistent.
Got a text from a mate who is a Cats fan early in the 3rd quarter saying Umps were boast ballwinner, defender and goalkicking option for them. Says a lot doesn't it?
                      - Buchanan was fantastic around the packs, just don't let him kick for goal. Ever.
I've said it for a while - Monty is a midfielder who is great at getting hands on the ball and whose delivery to forwards is pretty solid and improving all the time. Get him aiming at the sticks and well, close your eyes and hope. He is NOT a small crumbing forward who is going to kick a couple of goals a game, but can be of some use if being rested in a FP because of his ball-winning abilities.

Sunday arvo, hungover after celebrating what I thought was a great win against Geelong and three umpires. Sure, the first quarter wasnt so good and neither was the first half of the third, but for the remainder I thought Sydney played very well.

The second quarter was sublime and is the reason we got to watch footy, in the hope that we might see our team play like that. It was as if Sydney had the ball on a string and could do no wrong. Magic stuff.

As many have said, the umpiring was a disgrace. They had one set of rules for Geelong and another set for Sydney. Geelong's 2nd, 3rd and 4th goals all came from free kicks. There were others as well but I stopped counting as it was making me too angry and risked spoiling my enjoyment of a great win.

Good to see ROK kicking accurately again - also played very well. Buchananan still needs more goal kicking practice (although his performance otherwise was excellent). LRT is rubbish and must be dropped.

Umpires too interventionist, LRT outdid himself with his tendency to clanger. Looked best when the ball was moved quickly (the team that is). Next week to the slippery dip in TD, that ground is under big scrutiny in the Melbourne media this morning.
