Was he right? - time for a poll

With 19 minutes to go in the second quarter, Ben Matthews is running with the ball in the backline and looks up to see his options. LRT is running forward and a weighted kick would have seen him mark forward of the HBF with an opportunity to carry further forward. To me, it looked as if Matthews must have seen the option and instead decided not to kick to LRT. Instead he ran a bit further and kicked it towards the boundary where it was run over by Nick Davis.

Did he do the right thing?

No, Matthews couldn't kick through a barn door - better to go straight to the boundary line which is a bigger target

No, kicking the ball LRT is a new class of clanger called a 'pre-turnover'.

Yes, LRT needs to touch the ball more to expedite his development

Probably, but Ben Matthews should work in a cork factory so good is he at making stoppages.

All this is a figment of your imagination. The incident never happened

He had observed that people who did lie were, on the whole, more resourceful and ambitious and successful than people who did not lie.

I'd like to start a new poll on what are the best polls we have seen on RWO so I can vote for this one!!

I've noticed Mathews do this a few times before. IMHO whatever we all think of LRT, if he is open in a better position, the ball should go to him. You cannot have your players being selective about who they will and won't kick to depending on who they are.

Yep, a simply reason why Matthews shouldnt even be in the side let alone captaincy material. He is a cancer working away at any sort of system we may have. Any coach would drag a player for ignoring a man clear. Roos is totally soft for the senior players.
[As an aside, I loved how Wallace dragged Richo this week for playing on 10m out from goal. Good stuff. Richo was spewing]

And its not just LRT, he's done it to most young players.

I thought that was fantastic, I was grinning from ear to ear when Wallace finished the punishment with forcing Richo to run back out for the last minute of the quarter.
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

Wallace was unapologetic about it when interviewed on ABC radio after the game and good on him too. Maybe we need something similar. MOL plays on too often however Bazza usually takes the set shot.

Considering the excellent clanger-work LRT conducted early on Sat night, it would not surprise me if players would do ANYTHING other than give the ball to LuRTch.

His only value at the moment is running around with the oppositions tallest forward and causing a spillage.

Having said that, Benny wouldn't kick it to anyone anyway (except for maybe to the opposition). Its just his overly-defensive mindset.
