    Kirk

Just looked at the game stats and noticed that The Captain racked up a staggering 12 tackles this evening. While I didn't think he was a particular stand-out at the game (though am about to watch the delayed telecast into Sydney), that is a phenomal effort from one player. He got 20 touches too.

He added something to our midfield we were missing "Guts and Heart". Effective player who gets the ball.

He was in and under the packs all night. One of the best games he's played I reckon. If he keeps that up, he can stay.

Poor kirky, he is probably in our top 5 players this year but as soon as he has one bad game he will cop it big time. Is one of those players that doesnt get the kudos he deserves, but more than gets his fair share of critism for an off game.

Along with Jude Bolton, I think he's one who looks like he wants to show that he's taken the next step. 'Bout time too. Hope he keeps it up.

I wasn't able to get to the game, so got to work quickly on the match stats, and funnily enough, in my little blurb for the stats for the game, used the exact same words as Liz

Amazed that Kirk was not on the "offical" AFL best list.
Not the most cultured player but dfeinitely a strong contributor tonight.

He's always been one of my "Luffys" - Gives 100% and more than makes up for any perceived shortfalls in skills etc. Always slips in under the radars, and definitely far from my list of players who are playing for a spot on the list.

177th Senior AFL Match - Round 4, 2009 - Sydney vs Carlton, SCG. This is obviously out of date. I suppose I'll update it once I could be bothered sitting down with the fixture and working it out....

I get the feeling that his contribution would have been recognised by the people in the coaches box, and that he would be in the top few in the B&F so far for this season.

                      Make it so No. 1

Cap'n Kirk is a brilliant player. Again, like most midfielders, does the hard yards and gets no glory. Will become legendary, like Roos, absolutley. Tough, tenacious and moderately accurate disposal, he's a great footballing package, wrapped up in a body that can take the knocks.

Captain Kirk never got a chance under Eade

All of you doubting Thomases who questioned his worth know
                        very little about football

His work in the centre bounces and his value as a tagger is immeasurable

Johnny Roberts (Kirks No 1 critic) where are you ?????

I wish Kirk would bulk up. He can get bumped off the ball quite easily sometimes.

I noticed that Kirk was right in the packs getting the ball out a lot last night. Was particularly good and instrumental in the last quarter. I think he was minding Travis Johnstone.

This is what i have always thought of him.If you think he is having a bad game, just take a moment to think of who he is playing on,and see how well they are playing. He has tagged some of the best midfielders out of games, and possibly may get the job on Buckley or Licuria this week.
