I'm a vote for Barry on Matera. If not working, Crouch to take over.

    Midfield:

    Kirk - Cousins
    Willaims - Judd
    Ablett - Fletcher
    Bolton - Stengline

More than happy for Bolton to get it too.

I just think it would be a mistake to put one of the smaller or slower guys on him.

I think maybe we should play our own game from the start and see how things pan out.Weagles have too many individual stars and I think we would get our knickers in a knot if we worried about manning up each of their blokes.
On the other hand Matera is a definate worry.I have seen him tear a few teams apart this year.I don't think Dempster is the man for him as Matera tends to run around in circles and that is Dempsters weaknesss.Maybe Scnieder or Crouch.
It will be a game of pace and strength and I am really looking forward to it.It will tell us where we are really at.

The Goodes matchup is an interesting one and i'm glad i'm not the only one who thinks Judd v Goodes is a possibility. Williams has the good record so maybe start with that.

I haven't seen too much of Glass recently so can't comment on that, but i do seem to recall chick getting schooled by Magic so that might be an avenue if we get the ball in there quickly.

I think Schneider on Matera would be a nightmare so CBolt for me or maybe crouch.

I can't see any possible reason why Judd and Goodes would match up.

Because they are playing on opposing teams.

So do you think we should put Buchanan on Lynch...

Sorry, but I'm going to have to give you one of these . That is a rather different scenario.

Roos showed last year that he thought the best way to deal with Judd was to make him accountable by putting our best midfielder on him and not tagging him at all. An argument could be made that doing that with Goodes could be a good idea because as long as we win the clearances, having Goodes roaming on his own (because Judd won't follow him) could win us the game.

I'd personally go with Williams again though.

But WC would simply let Judd run free and do his thing, while they would have someone else follow Goodes.

That would meansthey dont have the confidence to back their man. If they cant trust their best player, imagine how others would feel.

And we know how players without confidence play .

Why would you waste one of the best players in the AFL by getting him to tag someone, rather than simply let him play his game, force you to match up on him and get someone else to mind Goodes.
