Cool. By the 3rd quarter I should be fueled by a few beers and hopefully a good scoreline, so listen out for it. However, if I'm greeted by silence around me I'll quickly fall quiet.

Originally posted by Old Royboy Well, thats better than the Bay 6 glee club who used to sing the Halleluiah chorus when Bazza scored. But you singers could follow their lead for MOL when he goals.
There is a group in the O'Reilly that did that earlier this year, now they just sing "Barry Hall" to the tune of "Here we go" every goal he kicks.
I'm on the Chandwagon!!!
If you cannot compete for the premiership, it's better to be young and exciting than middle-aged and dowdy.

Oh Mickey your so fine
Your so fine you blow my mind
Hey Mickey (clap clap clap) Hey Mickey.
Meanwhile I just barrack, because I can't bloody sing!
They are still doing it - we all got into it out at Olympic Park recently where they sit alongside me. Both the Mickey and the "Halleluiah, Bazza's kicked a goal" ones.
Good point Wil - all those loudmouths yelling and carrying on like idiots ruin my appreciation of the players slamming into the fence at the 50 metre line. In my humble opinion, it's all the fault of the SCG of not just letting the outer suburbanites buy beer at the ground but switching from chardonnay to chablis for a while, too. (It's much better at Telstra where, twice in a row, our shout found 50 cent pieces at the bottom of the cup. Maybe it's GST exempt?)

Chanting helps the team win so would you rather LISTEN to the team lose or WATCH the team win?

Oh, yes. This one will work well - people already know the tune and it won't take long to learn the words.
Other chants:
If the maggots rip us off - BOOO BOOO BOOO. Make it LOUD and HOSTILE. Make it known to the umpiring fraternity that there are few tribal sounds that are more chilling than 40,000 angry Swans fans booing the umpire for not paying the obvious free. We should stop giving the umpires a free run.
Maybe the Barmy Army can give us a few more ideas for chants and songs?
"Unbelievable!" -- Nick Davis leaves his mark on the 2005 semi final
There's a group of half a dozen twenty-something "lads" who sit two rows behind me (in the O'Reilly) and have their own Barry Hall ditty that they sing loudly at regular intervals. Can't quite remember the words but hopefully I'll have numerous opportunities this weekend to listen more carefully and try to remember them.

Originally posted by Alexandra Ward ok everyone - what we all need to accept (and Yes JF hard as it may be that means you !) that everyone is different.
Whilst some of us shout til we're unable to speak (like me!), others like to sit quietly and just watch - that is their perogative.
So JF - please cut a bit of slack to those who aren't as animated or as out there as you are. They have just as much right to sit and watch quietly wired to their radio's as you have to chant and get the crowd around you revved up. Whilst you find their silence annoying, consider they may feel the same about you. It doesnt mean they are any less passionate about the team.
Um, but where have sledged anyone in this thread for not joining along with a chant? I'm just doing my best despite better-than-thous like Mark.
It is just weird that you NEVER get comments like this from people in Melbourne. Going mad is not only the norm, it is to be expected.
I'm not really going to have much of a voice to rev people up with in any case.
But please don't get your nickers in a knot. I can only try and encourage people to join in the support the team. If that is not their thing, you are right, there is little I or anyone can do to change it.
It is just feels like I'm smashing my head against a wall in Sydney doings things that in Melbourne come naturally.

Yourreally sad mate, go support some chardonnay sippers, passion is what this game needs, heaven forbid if your ears are hurtry by the noises on the radio

do you really want an answer?

And you wonder why people get pissed off with the comments you make. An attitide like this does more to hold crowds back (and the game) in Sydney that anything Andy D will ever say. You approach is similar to George W Bush's approach to world politics - "if you aint with me, you are against me". Thank Christ there is more than one way to support a team, because if it was choice between be like you or not be a fan, the SCG is the last place most of Sydney would be on a Sunday afternoon. If the people of Melbourne love you and your drum so much, pack up and move.

I prefer to liken it to Anakin Skywalker - "If you aren't with me, then you're an enemy". Makes me wonder which George came up with it first, Dubya or Lucas?

If anyone would like to help us out this Sunday, now is the time.

JF,
In case you missed it. Guus Hiddink said in the SMH today that he is hoping to attend the Swans match tomorrow!! Got to get loud and show him what Sydney fans and the AFL are made of!!
I can't believe you are not allowed to bring the drum up into the O'Reily stand anymore that really sucks. Hopefully we can still be loud!
(He is also going to attend the Sydney FC match tonight!)

Just enjoy the game JF and if the crowd is revved, they'll be a great atmosphere, no matter what they chant.
