    Roo Killers Required

No doubt about it, the Roo and Tyson Edwards have been their ball winners for much of this season.

Though McLeod has to be kept in tight check, if we don't sit on those blokes, we can get torn apart.

Personally, I'd hate to play on the big Roo. He's massive in body and lightening with disposal. This may sound seriously unusual, but I would consider Monty playing closely with him.

Monty is one of best tacklers, has the body to go with him but also the Roo will keep him on the ball, hopefully with Monty getting the chance to get in and under and be creative himself.

As for Edwards, well Noggy might be the go there with Willo getting to sit with McLeod. Edwards might not be your average super star, but he's a very good player.

They're good defensively the Crows, so Jude and Kirky will have to be sharp or we'll turn it over too easily. Need another big contribution from Schneids, otherwise we might be too predictable if Rutton does another job on Baz.

Pretty sure Mick will be minded by Bassett Hound.

You're overlooking Goodwin who I'd say is leading their B&F at the moment.

Kirk has done well against the Roo in recent matches - BOG against the Crows in the late season game last year.

You're too right! He is integral to that gun midfield.

The boys will have their work cut out for them again.

I reckon the biggest thing in Sydney's favour will be that they go in as under-dogs and hopefully really want to make this game count.

Wow, clash of the Round 2 weeks in a row.

Any Adelaide based Swannies out there? What's the scoop down there? Are they expecting to account for us easily?

Edwards & Goodwin are both excellent footballers both of whom have murdered us at various stages in recent encounters. McLeod & Roo are of course 2 of the best of their kind in the last decade & from all reports are having near career best seasons.

And lest we forget it was their lesser lights (Skipworth, Ladson?) that carved us up at the SCG this year.

That said, we can go into this game with more confidence than ever before - we now have a fully functioning midfield, devoid(-ish) of stars but which makes their opponents earn every kick & which earns more than their fair share of clearances.

As long as we bounce back ok from a tuff game in warm conditions I think Sat nite should be another cracker.

I think you're thinking of Thompson, who kicked 3 last time. Ladson plays for Hawthorn.

Actually I was thinking of Mattner tho I can't explain how that metamorphised into Ladson. Shirley was also pretty good for them day if IIRC, tho havent heard any mention of him lately.

Read a few commentators who couldn't believe how spent the players were in the rooms on Sun arvo. Got a sneaking suspicion we may have used up all the petrol tickets and in a way would prefer to concentrate on knocking off the Bombers in a game we are more likely to win the week after.

McLeod's been much more of a pinch hitter this year. Expect him to spend a lot of time down back, but watch out when he creeps into the middle, he'll hurt you most when you think you've got him beat.

They are a little similar to WC in that they rely on good forward delivery to score (the don't manufacture well if they are just bombing it long). They beat us last time by freeing their midfield across 50 and scoring from there rather than rely too much on their forwards.

I'd love to see Schauble in the tag McGregor around the ground, that'd be a perfect match up I reckon.

Edwards and Goodwin as mentioned are pretty dangerous and Scotty Thompson is underrated.

If there's any Swans fans in Adelaide with the 'flu, wear a Crows scarf and go to the Crows next training session. By Saturday, hopefully a few Crows players will be out with a virus.

It's becoming a footy cliche, but the Crows run from the backline holds the key to this game.

They do put McLeod down there, not so much from a defensive role, but more of a spark when they break.

I think we really need our forwards to work double time to lock the ball into F50. ROK, Davis, Schneider and Monty just have to apply the blow torch to their backmen. Kirky used the word relentless, well that has to be way again.

Winning this game would not be a "nice to have", it will be a brilliant achievement setting up an invaluable home final. After the games we have and we WILL face, travelling the country in September will be exhausting.

Preferably a female, however Rhett Biglands might just open-minded enough....no offence Rhett.

I expect to see either Kirk or Ablett on Roo. Crouch or Buchanan to run with McLeod.
