I think it's not important whether a player will be upset if he misses a spot in the team. The best team should be picked regardless.

Maxfield would have been handy at the beginning of the third quarter in Adelaide.

True, needed some hard bodies then. Worse, if those of us at the AFL club were saying "Adelaide is going to come back very hard at the start of this quarter" why weren't the team ready for it?

BTW the SH today said that Stewie expected to sell his Sydney house for $1.3m and knocked back $1.22m at auction only to settle for $1.16m last week. Cutely described as a last quarter fade out by the Sydney property market. (But Sydney has won the flags for the past 100 years, hasn't it?)

          And on a side note:
Oh, to own St George! I fell in love with Paul Kelly's old home when he put it up for auction two years ago... Pity I don't have a spare $4million.
And you can't find nothing at all,
If there was nothing there all along.

For those who may have missed it, Stewie made his return against the Crows last night. At least according today's Sunday mail he did. They have a photo of him being tackled by Johncock (according to the caption). Funny though, he's the spitting image of Luke Ablett.

We all told Roos not to bring him back too soon!

I think it would be well worth using a fit Stewie as a bench player. Many teams have them.Look at Ricardi at Geelong for example. He comes on for short spurts towards the end of the quarters and has really added grunt and kicked goals. If you look through the lists a few teams have pinch hitter players.
I don't think you can even compare a fit Maxfield to Malceski who has shown very little when given his limited chances. The boy needs to spend alot of pre season in the gym.McVeigh can come on and yes,he is a good athlete but not a good footballer at this stage.
Finals are a new game.Experience is one of the keys.
